Plant Manager (Mining / Operations / Maintenance / Processing plant) – Zimbabwe

Job Description: One of our clients is currently searching for a Plant Manager to provide overall leadership and operational management of the mine Processing Plant, with accountability for safe, efficient and cost-effective processing operations. The successful candidate will be accountable for key plant performance indicators including gold recovery, throughput, plant utilization, operating costs, safety, environmental performance, housekeeping and overall plant reliability. The individual must combine strong metallurgical expertise with proven operational leadership and the ability to manage people, production, costs and continuous improvement. Responsibilities: Provide overall leadership and management of the mine processing plant, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. Achieve production targets by maximizing plant throughput, utilisation, and gold recovery performance. Oversee and optimise processing circuits including crushing, milling, classification, flotation, and gold recovery processes. Monitor plant KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and operational efficiency. Manage plant operating costs, consumables, and budgets to ensure financial performance targets are achieved. Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to maximise equipment reliability, availability, and plant uptime. Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and operational standards while promoting a strong safety culture. Lead, develop, and mentor operational and technical teams, fostering high performance and accountability across the plant. Requirements: Qualification and Skill BSc Degree in Metallurgy, Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or a related discipline. Master's degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Extractive Metallurgy, or a related field would be advantageous. Minimum 8 to 10 years' experience in mineral processing or extractive metallurgy, preferably within a gold mining environment. At least 3 to 5 years' experience in a supervisory or management role within a mineral processing plant. Strong practical knowledge of gold ore processing, mineral processing, and extractive metallurgy. Hands-on experience with crushing, milling, classification, flotation, gold recovery processes, and BIOX or similar oxidation technologies. Proven experience in process optimisation, throughput improvement, metallurgical accounting, reconciliation, and plant cost management. Strong understanding of process control, troubleshooting, bottleneck resolution, and equipment reliability management. Experience working with complex mineral processing circuits, preferably including non-oxide gold ores. Demonstrated safety leadership and a proven track record of maintaining high HSE standards. Strong leadership, people management, coaching, and team development capabilities. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Previous experience as a Plant Manager, Processing Manager, Metallurgy Manager, Processing Superintendent, or Senior Metallurgist with significant operational responsibility would be highly advantageous.
