The Job You Will Perform:
This position reports to the Plant General Manager at the St. Anthony Sheet Plant and is a hands-on leadership position responsible for providing direction to all shift Supervisors and Maintenance Team Members and deliver results on key operational metrics. In addition, the Plant Superintendent is responsible for the following:
Responsible for process management in the areas of safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement in the production, while supervising employees in the daily routine of producing quality corrugated products in a safe and efficient manner.
Support HSE initiatives and programs; is committed to a safe work environment and helps to ensure that all IP safety and health reliable methods and federal and state OSHA requirements are in place and followed.
Manages salaried supervisors and help ensure employees efficient daily production of corrugated products, which includes training, planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating employee performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; promoting teamwork; resolving conflicts.
Manages maintenance team members and repair activity
Maintain daily plant housekeeping standards by assuring the use of established procedures.
Maintain high levels of product and service quality in the corrugating, finishing and shipping departments through actively assisting in the development, implementation, use, auditing, and improvement of standard reliable methods and procedures.
Stay abreast of people needs and issues in the plant and assure effective resolution of identified issues and needs.
Establish high morale within your department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems. Maintain confidentiality.
Ensure compliance of all quality checks; coordinate upkeep of machinery with Maintenance team to minimize downtime; assist in troubleshooting machine problems.
Oversee training employees, planning and assigning work.
Provide for regular and overtime scheduling.
Utilize employee involvement and empowerment principles to create teamwork and optimize utilization of resources.
Responsible for inventory control and monitoring of stock levels, as well as securing vendors as needed.
Work with Finance Specialist for PO’s related to any repairs, satefy equipment, other purchase items
Coordinates and assists all Contractor activities, including:
Auditing their work and safety compliance
Auditing for quality and economy of service
The Skills You Will Bring:
Minimum of 5 plus years of supervisory experience required.
Experience in manufacturing required; corrugated manufacturing preferred.
Bachelors degree preferred.
Experience in a union facility preferred.
