Plant Technician Power Plant
You will safely operate power plant equipment from the control room, monitor plant performance, and take corrective action on alarms. You will control plant processes and electrical distribution, inspect equipment, perform preventive maintenance, conduct water-quality testing, maintain operational records, and support plant operations.
Responsibilities
- Follow plant safety guidelines and procedures and provide safety stewardship.
- Operate power plant equipment from the control room.
- Monitor plant performance and take corrective action based on alarms.
- Coordinate activities and direct auxiliary technicians and others in the plant.
- Control plant processes and electrical distribution through the distributive control system and other process-control devices.
- Conduct equipment rounds and correct operational problems.
- Maintain plant housekeeping standards.
- Perform preventive maintenance and assist with equipment repairs.
- Perform boiler and cooling-tower water-quality testing and correct processes as needed.
- Handle chemicals.
- Identify equipment problems and communicate associated conditions to the maintenance group.
- Maintain accurate and legible operational logs and records.
- Assist with budget planning and control.
- Participate in plant training and qualification programs.
- Provide leadership to less experienced individuals and act in a supervisor's absence when required.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Operations Manager or Facility Manager.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience performing similar work.
- Experience in a power or process environment is preferred.
- Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as necessary.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including prolonged standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and repeatedly lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Provide basic hand tools according to the company-provided list.
- Strong aptitude in math, mechanical ability, and production control.
- Communication and teamwork skills.
