PLANT & YARD WORKER

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; must be 18 years and older to work in the Heavy industry
Must posses a valid Hawaii State Drivers License and be able to drive an automobile or pick-up truck
Must be able to work NIGHT SHIFT, overtime and on weekends as required
Requires Saturday work
Must be mechanically inclined
1 year of previous experience
Must become a member of the ILWU Local 142

Duties and Responsibilities

Operate skid steer loader and other manual equipment necessary to maintain a safe and clean work environment around crushing, maintenance and batch plant equipment
May assist mechanics and other personnel with minor repairs as required
Responsible for basic crusher/conveyor maintenance and servicing
Requires changing conveyor belting, idlers, rollers, skirt board, screens and all other wear parts requiring frequent repair or replacement
Checks mechanical condition of equipment as required
Assists mechanics on emergency and minor repairs
Reports unsafe conditions and mechanical defects on equipment
Performs pre- and post- operational checks such as oil, water, and fuel levels, checks all lights and braking system, and tires
Responsible for cleanliness and proper appearance of equipment and makes minor repairs when necessary
Performs repair and replacement maintenance on all wear parts
Performs such similar, comparable or related duties as may be assigned or required
Must always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, process, and behaviors

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Works in varying environments, from air-conditioned offices to hot, dusty, muddy field conditions
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, and withstand heights
Must be able to lift and carry materials weighting up to 60 pounds
