Platform Architect (Cloud VDI & IaC)
Description
We are seeking a Platform Architect to design, operate, and continuously improve the cloud platform. This is a primarily individual contributor role that requires strong ownership and the ability to work independently while collaborating with one other team member and customer stakeholders. We are looking for strong Cloud VDI / End-User Computing (EUC) experience on any major hyperscaler or enterprise VDI stack, such as Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, VMware/Omnissa Horizon, Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Amazon WorkSpaces, or Workspot. The platform is built IaC-first on AWS today, with an active roadmap to add physical/bare-metal devices, adopt new AWS services, and expand into Azure and GCP over the next 6+ months
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve the cloud platform architecture to support current and future business requirements
- Own the end-to-end infrastructure lifecycle, including provisioning, upgrades, decommissioning, drift detection, and ongoing operational hygiene
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, including managing remote state through HashiCorp Cloud Platform (HCP)
- Architect, deploy, and support Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) / End-User Computing (EUC) solutions on major hyperscaler or enterprise VDI platforms
- Build and maintain CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions to streamline infrastructure deployment and operational workflows
- Apply AI coding assistants and agents, such as GitHub Copilot or Claude, to accelerate IaC authoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and automation tasks
- Explore and integrate AI-driven operational workflows, such as anomaly detection, auto-remediation, or intelligent runbooks, into platform engineering practices
- Collaborate closely with one other team member and customer stakeholders to drive platform decisions and priorities
- Support the platform's expansion roadmap, including the addition of physical/bare-metal devices and extension into Azure and GCP environments
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in cloud native development
- At least 2 years in Senior, Lead, Manager, or Owner-level roles
- Proven track record managing engagements for teams of 5 or more full-time employees
- Strong hands-on experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), covering platforms such as Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, VMware/Omnissa Horizon, Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Amazon WorkSpaces, or Workspot
- Solid experience developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, including remote state management via HashiCorp Cloud Platform (HCP)
- Demonstrated ability to own the complete infrastructure lifecycle, including provisioning, upgrades, decommissioning, drift detection, and operational hygiene
- Experience using GitHub Actions to build and manage CI/CD pipelines
- Fluency with AI coding assistants and agents, such as GitHub Copilot or Claude, to speed up IaC authoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and automation
- Experience or strong interest in integrating AI-driven operational workflows, such as anomaly detection, auto-remediation, or intelligent runbooks, into platform engineering practices
- Fluent English communication skills at a B2 level or higher
