Platform Engineer

Open 24d posting dated 2 weeks ago

About the project:

We’re looking for a Platform Engineer to join our team to manage and deliver Kafka, databases and other stateful workloads to engineers. You would be a part of our client's team, which is improving their internal platform.

Our client need a qualified person to run the new initiative which enables businesses to embed financial services products such as payments, deposits, point-of-sale credit and merchant cash advances directly into their customer journeys without the hassle of becoming a bank. So there is more like a start up environment rather than corporate one.

Teams will do most of their work remotely from home, coming together, in the office in Warsaw, twice a month to connect & collaborate with colleagues, what they highly value.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate shared platform capabilities for stateful systems such as Kafka, PostgreSQL, and YugaByteDB

  • Deliver platform changes in a controlled, well-tested, and safe manner

  • Develop Kubernetes-native, self-service solutions using automation and reusable tooling

  • Improve developer experience by simplifying provisioning and reducing manual, ticket-driven workflows

  • Design and implement solutions that enhance platform resilience, scalability, security, and operational stability

  • Develop and maintain platform software, including operators, controllers, and supporting services managing infrastructure at scale

  • Define and improve observability practices, including monitoring, alerting, SLOs, dashboards, and runbooks

  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams on platform adoption, technical design, and best practices

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native platform engineering concepts

  • Practical experience operating or developing systems based on Kafka, PostgreSQL, YugaByteDB, or other stateful distributed technologies

  • Solid understanding of reliability engineering, observability, incident response, and safe production change practices

  • Experience building automation or self-service tooling that improves developer experience and reduces operational workload

  • Strong software engineering skills, with a focus on writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code (Java/Go)

  • Good judgement, strong collaboration skills, and proven ability to work effectively with internal platform users

  • Ability to balance deep technical expertise with pragmatic, value-driven delivery

  • Excellent English skills (B2+)

Nice to have:

  • Experience building Kubernetes operators or controllers (preferably in Go)

  • Familiarity with AWS managed data services such as RDS, Aurora, or similar database tooling

We offer

  • Ongoing support from a dedicated agent, taking care of your project continuity, client contact, necessary formalities, work comfort and development,

  • Consultant Development Program – advice on growth planning based on the latest trends and market needs in IT, including consultations with agents and growth mentors,

  • Access to 7N Learning & Development – a development and educational platform with webinars, a library of articles and industry reports, and regular invitations to one-time and recurring development events – technical, business, and lifestyle,

  • Spectacular integration events, both for you (e.g., annual Kick-Off trip, Christmas parties, or Summer Olympics sports events) and for your loved ones (e.g., family picnics, movie premieres),

  • Professional development not only during the project – you can get involved in knowledge transfer to others within the 7N Services offering directed at 7N clients,

  • Relationships and access to the knowledge of the most experienced IT experts in the market – the average professional tenure of our consultants in Poland is over 10 years,

  • A complete benefits package, including funding for medical care, life insurance, sports cards for you and your loved ones, as well as discounts in stores in Poland and abroad
