Platform Engineer – AWS Cloud Migration

We are looking for a Platform Engineer to join a high-visibility Cloud Migration program, focused on migrating large-scale object storage data from on-premises environments to Amazon S3.

In this role, you will help design, automate, and operate secure and scalable migration workflows, working closely with Cloud, Storage, Networking, Security, and Application teams to ensure successful and reliable data migrations.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys cloud infrastructure, automation, data migration, and solving complex technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Design, automate, and operate on-premises to AWS S3 migration workflows.
• Develop automation using Python, AWS services, and scripting.
• Work with large-scale object storage and S3-compatible platforms.
• Configure and operate data transfer tools such as rclone or AWS DataSync.
• Build migration workflows using AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, SQS, ECS/Fargate, and AWS Batch.
• Implement validation processes before, during, and after data migration.
• Perform reconciliation between source and destination, including object counts, file sizes, checksums, and data completeness.
• Troubleshoot connectivity, authentication, permissions, and migration-related issues.
• Work with AWS IAM, STS, KMS, Secrets Manager, and secure credential management.
• Monitor migration jobs using CloudWatch, logs, metrics, and alerts.
• Support high-volume migration workloads through batching, task management, retry mechanisms, and bandwidth controls.
• Maintain migration status, documentation, and operational reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to resolve technical issues and drive migrations to completion.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Data Migration, Storage Engineering, or a related area.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, particularly Amazon S3.
• Experience with cloud, data, storage, or infrastructure migrations, preferably from on-premises environments to AWS.
• Strong Python skills, including experience with boto3, APIs, JSON, logging, and exception handling.
• Experience with Linux/Unix and Shell scripting.
• Understanding of IAM, roles, permissions, encryption, and secure access.
• Understanding of cloud networking concepts such as VPC, private subnets, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, and S3 endpoints.
• Experience working with monitoring and operational tools such as CloudWatch.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and ownership skills.
