Platform Engineer (Encryption & Data Security)

The Platform Engineer designs, builds, and maintains shared cloud infrastructure and secure-by-default services, focusing on encryption, certificate management, and automation. The role involves working with AWS, GitOps, and infrastructure-as-code to support development teams across the organization.

The Platform Engineer helps design, build, and operate shared infrastructure services that development teams across the organization rely on every day.
You'll work on cloud infrastructure, automation, and secure-by-default platform services — including areas like encryption and certificate management — enabling teams to build and ship with confidence.
What You'll Do:
- Build and maintain infrastructure services used by development teams across the organization.
- Contribute to platform capabilities around data handling, encryption, and certificates.
- Develop and manage infrastructure as code using GitOps principles.
- Help operate and improve our AWS cloud infrastructure for reliability and scalability.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure smooth integration and operations.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support infrastructure availability.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across infrastructure and applications.
- Communicate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
What You'll Bring:
- Experience in platform engineering, site reliability engineering, DevOps, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with AWS core services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC).
- Proficiency in at least one programming language.
- Experience with an Infrastructure as Code tool.
- Solid Linux fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
- Familiarity with TLS and certificates, and an interest in growing in this area.
- Good problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work well in a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- DeepAWS experience
- Knowledge of PKI, certificate lifecycle management, or key management.
- Experience deploying infrastructure through GitOps pipelines.
- Familiarity with CDNs and network fundamentals.
- Additional programming languages such as Go or Java.
- Experience with large-scale or distributed systems.
- Knowledge of messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
- Experience with compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, CMMC).
- Relevant AWS certifications.
