Platform Engineer
Summary
Build and maintain an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that provisions AWS/EKS infrastructure via Terraform, AWS CDK, and GitHub Actions, enabling self-service tooling for engineering teams.
We're looking for a Platform Engineer to own the design, build, and maintenance of our customer's Internal Developer Platform (IDP) self-service tooling and infrastructure-as-code automation. In this role, you'll turn developer-facing self-service requests into provisioned, production-grade AWS/EKS infrastructure — building the automation, pipelines, and templates that let engineering teams move fast without sacrificing reliability or governance.
Responsibilities:
- Author and maintain Terraform infrastructure-as-code for IDP tooling-triggered provisioning actions.
- Build application bootstrapping and cloud infrastructure definitions using Projen + AWS CDK.
- Integrate Cookiecutter-based project template generation into the IDP's self-service tooling action set.
- Configure JFrog artifact and pipeline integration for IDP tooling-triggered builds.
- Provision and manage AWS EKS as the target compute environment.
- Integrate GitHub Actions (GHA) CI pipeline actions invoked directly by the IDP's self-service tooling.
- Design, orchestrate, and optimize pipelines using Argo Workflows.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5–8 years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Cloud/Infrastructure Engineering.
- Hands-on production experience with Terraform and AWS CDK (or equivalent IaC frameworks).
- Strong working experience with Kubernetes/EKS in production environments.
- Prior experience building on or extending Backstage or internal developer platforms (IDPs), including plugins, IDP tooling/actions, and TypeScript/JavaScript/React.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS (EKS, S3, CloudFront, VPC, IAM) and Kubernetes fundamentals (pods, deployments, services).
- Experience designing and building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Action
Nice to Have Qualifications:
- Experience with Cookiecutter for project template generation.
- Familiarity with JFrog for artifact and pipeline integration.
- Experience with Docker and Helm.
- Working knowledge of observability tooling (Prometheus/Grafana).
- Experience with mainframe (IBM i/z) read-only catalog integration.
- CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) or Certified Backstage Associate (CBA).
- AWS certification (Solutions Architect / DevOps Engineer).
