Platform Engineer

Job Summary

we are looking for a Platform Engineer to work as part of our Engineering team. In this role you will focus on the performance, tuning and resilience of our large-scale, distributed video delivery platform – getting the most out of the underlying server, storage, network, OS/kernel, virtualisation and cloud infrastructure to ensure the reliable, high-performance delivery of content to end-users worldwide.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Related field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in working on various technologies as server, storage, network, IOPS, OS, Kernel, VM and cloud architecture.
  • Strong experience in tuning the platform to effectively utilize the system resources thereby improving the application’s performance.
  • Strong knowledge in fine tuning the network & kernel parameters for high performance.
  • Experience on Ceph and Cassandra.
  • Strong experience in Python, Ansible development.
  • Good knowledge in network and kernel stack in Linux based systems.
  • Strong experience on AWS cloud, Virtualization, open stack, Linux KVM, VMware.
  • Strong experience on containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Excellent Communication Skills, ability to explain complex technical concepts to others clearly.
  • Candidate should have good listening skills and ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional Team

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design, build, tune and maintain the server, storage, network and virtualisation infrastructure that underpins the video delivery platform, ensuring optimal utilisation of system resources (CPU, memory, IOPS, network).
  • Profile and performance-tune the platform and its SOA applications – identifying and eliminating bottlenecks across the OS, kernel, network and storage layers to meet carrier-grade performance and scalability targets.
  • Fine-tune network and kernel parameters on Linux based systems to achieve high throughput and low latency for large-scale content delivery.
  • Deploy, configure, operate and troubleshoot distributed storage and database clusters (Ceph and Cassandra), ensuring data durability, availability and performance at scale.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, deployment and routine operational tasks using Python and Ansible to improve repeatability, reliability and speed of delivery.
  • Deploy and manage workloads across public cloud (AWS) and virtualised environments (OpenStack, Linux KVM, VMware), including the migration of applications onto cloud architectures.
  • Improve the resilience and high availability of the platform through capacity planning, fault-tolerance design and fault-injection / chaos testing.
  • Set up and maintain monitoring, alerting and observability, and take part in incident response and root-cause analysis to keep production systems healthy.
  • Collaborate with Development, QA and Product teams to define and validate non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, reliability), and document infrastructure architecture, tuning guidelines and operational runbooks.
  • Analysing and Fixing Platform related field issues

AI Usage in Platform Engineering

  • Practical experience using AI tools in day-to-day platform engineering activities. Ability to improve engineering efficiency using AI-assisted:
    • Infrastructure automation and scripting (Python, Ansible)
    • Debugging and root-cause analysis
    • Performance tuning and optimization
    • Log analysis and troubleshooting
    • Documentation and runbook generation
