Platform Engineering & DevOps Tech Lead
Summary
The Platform Engineering & DevOps Tech Lead will design and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure, build CI/CD pipelines, and manage containerized environments using Kubernetes. The role involves driving platform modernization, implementing Infrastructure as Code, and providing technical leadership to ensure high reliability and security across cloud platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Engineering
- Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure platform infrastructure.
- Develop self-service capabilities and reusable platform components for development teams.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools.
- Standardize environments and deployment practices across projects.
- Drive platform modernization initiatives and cloud adoption strategies.
DevOps & Automation
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, and operational tasks.
- Improve software delivery efficiency through DevOps best practices.
- Integrate security, compliance, and quality checks into deployment pipelines.
Cloud & Infrastructure Management
- Manage and optimize cloud environments on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Implement high-availability, disaster recovery, and scalability solutions.
- Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, utilization, and cost optimization.
- Ensure infrastructure security and compliance with organizational standards.
Containerization & Orchestration
- Deploy and manage containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Support Kubernetes cluster administration, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Implement service mesh, ingress controllers, and container security practices.
Monitoring & Reliability Engineering
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, or Datadog.
- Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Support incident management, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews.
- Improve platform reliability, availability, and operational excellence.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with Development, Architecture, Security, and Operations teams.
- Provide guidance on cloud-native architecture and DevOps best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards and documentation.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Hands-on expertise in Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or Infrastructure as Code frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, or CircleCI.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Shell Script, or PowerShell.
- Experience with Linux administration and networking fundamentals.
- Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, or Datadog.
- Experience implementing DevSecOps and security best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
- Experience with microservices architecture and cloud-native applications.
- Certifications such as:
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
- Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
- HashiCorp Terraform Associate
- Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer
