Platform Engineering Lead

Salary: AUD 190000 per annum

  • $180,000 - $190,000 + Super + 15% bonus
  • 2 days per week in the office - Sydney or Brisbane CBD

About the role:

We're working with a large enterprise organisation undertaking a significant engineering modernisation initiative and looking for a DevOps or Platform Leader to join a growing Platform Engineering capability. While the role carries the title of "Product Owner" internally, we're particularly interested in people operating at a Lead, Principal, Architect or Engineering Management level who have experience improving engineering outcomes through better tooling, self-service capabilities, platform standards, governance and platform adoption.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own and prioritise the engineering platform roadmap
  • Drive the adoption of GitHub Enterprise and modern engineering practices
  • Lead platform modernisation initiatives, including migration from legacy tooling
  • Define and evolve platform standards, guardrails and operating models
  • Improve developer experience through self-service capabilities and paved-path solutions
  • Contribute to the organisation's emerging AI-enabled engineering capabilities
About You:

  • Background in Platform Engineering, DevOps or Software Engineering
  • Experience working with developer platforms, internal engineering products or engineering enablement initiatives
  • Strong understanding of GitHub, GitLab, CI/CD and modern software delivery practices
  • Experience delivering large-scale technology transformation, migration or modernisation initiatives
  • Able to balance standardisation and governance with developer autonomy and usability
