Platform Engineering Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Platform Engineering Manager to join our team and build the foundation that scales our products to the next level.

What You'll Be Doing

• Manage and lead a cross-functional platform squad (Platform, Security, Backend, and TestOps), providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to help them grow and succeed in their roles.
• Drive the vision, strategy, and execution of our Internal Developer Platform (IDP), enabling product squads to build, test, and deploy autonomously with minimum friction.
• Oversee and evolve our core technology stack, ensuring best practices across AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, GitLab CI/CD, and Cloudflare.
• Champion a DevSecOps and quality-first mindset by integrating security and TestOps seamlessly into the software development lifecycle.
• Drive technical decision-making around scalable infrastructure, high availability, disaster recovery, and cloud cost optimization (FinOps).
• Establish and monitor key Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) metrics, including Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and incident response processes.
• Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous learning within your team, encouraging engineers to explore new technologies, share knowledge, and improve processes.
• Collaborate closely with product engineering teams to understand their pain points, gather requirements, and act as an enabler for the wider Venga engineering ecosystem.
• Communicate technical roadmaps, platform health, and progress to stakeholders, including product leaders and other engineering teams.

Who You Are & What You'll Need

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, or Backend software engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Strong architectural understanding and hands-on experience with our core stack: AWS, Terraform (Infrastructure as Code), Kubernetes, GitLab, and Cloudflare.
• Proven experience managing diverse technical profiles, specifically bridging the gap between Infrastructure, Security, Backend, and Quality/TestOps.
• Servant leadership mindset and an ability to inspire, motivate, and align team members toward shared technical goals.
• Experience growing, coaching, mentoring, and providing feedback to team members, including having had difficult conversations.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies adapted for infrastructure and platform delivery (e.g., managing platform as a product).
• Experience navigating ambiguous requirements, migrating legacy systems, and scaling infrastructure in a fast-paced scale-up environment.
• Native or Advanced level of English; Spanish is a plus.

Nice to have

• Experience managing blockchain and Web3 infrastructure (e.g., managing nodes, RPC endpoints, wallet security).
• FinTech experience, particularly dealing with high-frequency trading platforms, ledgers, or payment gateways.
• Familiarity with FinOps practices and optimizing cloud spend at scale.
• Familiarity with compliance, AML, and regulation within a cloud environment.
• ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2, or PCI DSS experience.
