About The Team

Accenture S&PE is over 1,000 people strong and provides end-to-end product engineering solutions which deliver tangible value, fast. We bring together an obsession for technical excellence with agility and scale, to help clients move from project to product at speed.

We work with clients in every sector. They range from scale-ups through to national and international blue-chip names and public sector organisations. Our teams routinely work on products that are used by millions of people.

We offer an exciting career working in a vibrant environment, with access to training and a global network of experts. As part of our S&PE Engineering team, you'll be working with cutting-edge technologies and will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of new skills on the job

What you'll do

We typically work hand-in-hand with our clients to build great digital products for them and for their customers. To do this, we need experienced, capable engineers who can both deploy their own mastery to get things done hands-on and successfully lead others in doing so. The nature of our work varies from client to client so there will be lots of opportunities to experience new domains and new stacks.

The role of Principal Software Engineer often involves leading client engagements holistically - people, delivery, quality, and commercials. As well as ensuring we're delivering great engineering, you'll keep the big picture in mind and help our clients make the best use of a consultancy partner to reach their goals sooner.

Our team is dedicated to applying great engineering to get great outcomes. Our engineers stand out by keeping one eye on value at all times, and by proposing thoughtful solutions that get the job done efficiently and with low complexity. You'll be a key advocate for this approach within a team.

Beyond client work, our engineers are essential contributors to our internal and regional engineering communities. There's loads of scope to get involved and help shape conversations around tech you're interested in, share your knowledge and experience, and learn from colleagues working in very diverse problem spaces.

Job Qualifications

We're looking for experience in the following:

  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders who expect to see outcomes
  • Several years building backend services across integration paradigms (e.g., synchronous API-driven, message-driven, and event-driven)
  • Fluency in at least one of: Java, .NET/C#, Python, TypeScript (front-end experience such as React is a plus)
  • Recent experience building, deploying, and running cloud-native applications on AWS and/or Azure
  • Working in DevOps teams with industry-standard practices
  • Producing repeatable, automated tests for your own work
  • Collaborating in an egoless way, regardless of level or role
  • Bring a reliability-first mindset to service delivery, designing systems that are operable by default and measured through clear, meaningful SLIs and SLOs.
  • Enable pragmatic observability across services (logging, metrics, distributed tracing), with actionable alerting, and actively contribute to incident response and blameless post-incident reviews to drive continuous improvement.
  • You have hands-on experience with GenAI, or evidence of actively pursuing personal GenAI projects outside of work
  • Comfort with change and learning new domains and stacks to achieve the best client outcomes

AI

You'll be expected to use modern AI-assisted engineering practices responsibly (e.g., code generation, test generation, documentation and analysis) and help teams adopt them safely and effectively. This includes understanding model limitations, protecting client data, and improving delivery quality and speed through pragmatic automation.

SRE & Observability

You'll bring a reliability mindset to delivery, designing services that are operable by default and measured through meaningful SLIs/SLOs. You'll help teams implement pragmatic observability - logging, metrics, and distributed tracing, with actionable alerting, and you’ll contribute to (or lead) incident response and post-incident reviews that drive learning and measurable improvements.

What's in it for you

At Accenture in addition to a competitive basic salary, you will also have an extensive benefits package which includes 30 days' vacation per year, private medical insurance and 3 extra days leave per year for charitable work of your choice!

As a Manager you will also receive a car allowance paid into your monthly salary .

Flexibility and mobility are required to deliver this role as there will be requirements to spend time onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery of the first-class services we are known for.
