Platform Infrastructure Architect - Core Services

Summary

Designs, builds, and secures core IT infrastructure platforms, troubleshoots outages, and mentors teams on cloud, virtualization, and Linux systems.

Overview

Platform Infrastructure Architect

Core ServicesπŸ“ Location: Kolkata, India | Remote

About the Role

The Platform Infrastructure Architect designs, standardizes, and improves the core infrastructure platforms that support enterprise applications, operational services, and critical business systems. This role provides technical leadership for virtualization and hypervisor platforms, public and private cloud infrastructure, compute, storage, data protection, data center design, automation, security, IT asset management, and change management.

The ideal candidate has strong infrastructure engineering experience and can think like an architect. You should follow disciplined operational practices, understand security risks, and turn business and technical needs into platform standards that are reliable, scalable, easy to support, and cost-effective.

Your Role Responsibilities? Here's What You'll Do.

  • Design and maintain company standards for virtualization and hypervisor platforms β€” covering capacity, availability, system lifecycle, performance, resilience, and governance β€” while continuing to evaluate new technologies, including approved AI tools, to improve platform quality and delivery speed.
  • Lead the design and improvement of automation and scripting using PowerShell, Ansible, and Python to reduce manual work, create consistent results, speed up delivery, and strengthen configuration control across enterprise infrastructure platforms.
  • Create scalable infrastructure designs for public cloud, private cloud, and hybrid environments using Azure, AWS, and Hyper-V; improve reliability, operational efficiency, security, and cost management across production, disaster recovery, and lab environments.
  • Provide technical leadership for compute, storage, and data protection systems; define standards for performance, availability, backup, recovery, replication, data retention, and disaster recovery readiness across production and DR environments.
  • Work with security, application, network, operations, and service management teams to define requirements, document standard designs, and guide implementation decisions; support data center operations including hardware lifecycle, rack and power planning, and vendor coordination.
  • Promote secure, compliant, resilient, and risk-aware engineering practices; support IT asset management and change management by ensuring infrastructure changes are documented, assessed for risk, communicated, tested, and aligned with operational standards.

Technology Tools You'll Use

Automation & Scripting

  • PowerShell, Ansible, Python

Virtualization & Hypervisor Platforms

  • Hyper-V, VMware, Private Cloud Platforms

Cloud Platforms

  • Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure

Compute, Storage & Data Protection

  • Enterprise Storage Systems, Site Recovery Platforms, Backup & Replication Tools

IT Service & Asset Management

  • IT Asset Management Tools, Change Management Platforms, ITIL-Aligned Service Management Tools

Documentation & Governance

  • Architecture Diagrams, Runbooks, Build Standards, Decision Records, Implementation Guides

Role Essentials

  • Bachelor's degree or at least seven years of equivalent work experience, with extensive experience serving as a Systems Architect, Infrastructure Architect, or senior infrastructure administrator with demonstrated responsibility for architecture decisions and platform standards in complex production environments.
  • Strong practical experience with virtualization and hypervisor platforms β€” including Hyper-V or equivalent β€” covering design standards, capacity management, troubleshooting, lifecycle planning, and operational support across enterprise-scale environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise compute, storage, backup, recovery, replication, and data protection systems in production and disaster recovery environments, with working knowledge of data center operations including hardware lifecycle, rack and power requirements, and vendor management.
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting using PowerShell, Ansible, Python, or similar technologies to create consistent processes and reduce manual work; strong understanding of infrastructure security, compliance requirements, access controls, system hardening, and resilient design practices.
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills with a professional and respectful approach; proven ability to create clear technical documentation, architecture standards, runbooks, implementation guides, and decision records for both technical and non-technical audiences, with strong cross-team collaboration and influencing skills.

What We'd Like to See

  • Experience in infrastructure architecture, platform engineering, site reliability engineering, data center engineering, or enterprise operations leadership, with a demonstrated track record of delivering scalable, cost-effective, and resilient platform solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Hyper-V, Azure, AWS, private cloud platforms, storage systems, or site recovery platforms, with the ability to design and implement hybrid infrastructure solutions that balance performance, security, and cost optimization.
  • Knowledge of IT service management practices including change review processes, incident response, problem management, lifecycle planning, and operational readiness reviews aligned with ITIL or similar frameworks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of capacity planning, performance tuning, business continuity, and disaster recovery testing, with experience identifying gaps, recommending improvements, and contributing to modernization and consolidation roadmaps.
  • Relevant certifications in virtualization, cloud, storage, backup, automation, ITIL, security, or architecture are helpful but not required; a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and responsible evaluation of emerging technologies is highly valued.
