Platform Software Engineer

Summary

Builds and automates software to keep 50,000 internet-connected video recorders running 24/7, diagnosing live issues and shipping tools in Python, Go, and C on Linux.

Our team keeps tens of thousands of internet-connected video recorders running around the clock for our customers. In this position you would help build and automate the software that keeps that fleet healthy hands-on engineering on live production systems, not process work. This is a platform software engineering role, not a DevOps position: you'll spend your time designing, writing, reviewing your teammates' code, and maintaining it. The position is based in Córdoba, Argentina, and works on-site with the team it is not a remote position.

Your day to day mixes three things: building new tools and services, diagnosing and fixing real issues on live devices alongside your teammates, and documenting what you learn so the whole team moves faster. We're small, tight-knit and evidence-driven, and we punch above our weight: we produce the majority of the platform's commit volume, and the team has been stable for years.

You'll work across several new platform initiatives as well as help maintain our existing platform. You'll partner directly with your manager on real fleet problems from day one, with real ownership rather than a slow ramp-up.

  • Build and maintain the software and tooling that keeps a fleet of tens of thousands of connected devices healthy
  • Diagnose and fix real problems on live devices, working with teammates and pulling in the right people when a problem outgrows you
  • Join the customer-issue rotation, starting with guided troubleshooting and growing into resolving routine issues on your own
  • Write design drafts for new work and review them with a tech lead before building
  • Ship code end-to-end — design, implement, test, release
  • Document findings, fixes, and system knowledge so the team compounds what you learn
  • 2+ years building or maintaining software on Linux
  • Solid computer science and systems fundamentals
  • Strong software development skills, plus working proficiency in at least two programming languages such as Python, Go, C/C++, Rust
  • Studies in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, or equivalent — a completed degree isn't required; a partial/in-progress degree or strong self-taught fundamentals is fine
  • Professional English — you'll coordinate directly with code owners and our CTO in US Eastern hours
