Playable Game Developer
Summary
Builds polished HTML5 playable browser games from advertiser briefs end to end — concept, implementation, assets, testing, and variations — fully remote across Latin America. Core stack is JavaScript/TypeScript with browser-game frameworks like Canvas, PixiJS, Phaser, Three.js, PlayCanvas, or Cocos Creator, plus AI-assisted workflows.
Playable Game Developer
Remote: Latin America
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $5,000–$8,000 per month
🚨 Attention: This is a high-intensity early-stage startup environment. The role can require 50–60 hours per week, especially during critical delivery periods. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable with this level of commitment.
Company Overview
An early-stage technology startup building the ad network for AI. The company creates interactive ads for consumer AI apps: short browser games that connect an advertiser’s product or message to something fun to play. The team combines game design, web development, visual production and AI-assisted workflows to take these experiences from concept to delivery.
Challenge
We are looking for a Playable Game Developer who thinks like a game architect: someone who designs strong core loops, understands player psychology and builds experiences that convert. You will turn advertiser briefs into polished browser games and own the full process: concept, scope, implementation, assets, polish, testing and variations.
The company cares most about three things:
- Build games: strong design instincts and the hands to build them with the company’s web tech stack.
- Build for scale: set up games so AI agents can keep developing them long after you ship.
- Communicate design: explain your design choices clearly and give feedback on other developers’ games, to the team today and to AI agents tomorrow.
You will work closely with the CEO, CPO and Playable Development Lead while making day-to-day creative and technical decisions independently.
You will:
- Design core loops that convert: first seconds, goals, rewards, pacing and difficulty built around player psychology, handing players off to the call to action wanting more
- Build focused HTML5 playable ads in JavaScript or TypeScript, using the 2D or 3D browser stack that best fits each concept
- Create polished player experiences: clear onboarding, responsive controls, a readable HUD and UI, satisfying feedback and a strong CTA
- Structure games for AI agents, with config-driven tuning, modular systems and clear design docs so agents can build new variations without breaking them
- Adapt themes, hooks, content, difficulty and pacing into reusable variations without duplicating unnecessary code
- Ship production-ready builds by testing touch input, responsive layouts, loading, performance and cross-browser behavior
- Source, adapt or generate graphics and audio, then optimize them into a cohesive experience
- Use AI and other tools to ship faster, improve shared foundations and apply lessons from creative performance
Must Have
- Strong JavaScript or TypeScript fundamentals, including HTML/CSS, state, events, timing, asynchronous behavior and browser debugging
- Experience independently shipping complete games or highly interactive experiences, not only prototypes or isolated features (personal projects count)
- Practical experience with a browser-game stack such as Canvas, PixiJS, Phaser, Three.js, PlayCanvas, Cocos Creator or an equivalent
- Strong game design judgment across core loops, player psychology, mechanics, pacing, rewards, visual hierarchy and scope, with the ability to explain why a design will engage and convert
- Experience structuring game code so others can extend it: config-driven tuning, modular systems and clear documentation
- Experience building for touch devices and debugging mobile loading, rendering, memory, audio and layout issues
- Ability to source, create and integrate visual and audio assets while tracking usage rights
- Productive use of AI coding or asset tools, with the ability to review, debug and explain the output
- Comfortable working in an existing codebase and using Git
- Strong written and verbal English: able to explain design decisions in writing and live, and to communicate progress and blockers
💡 Depth in one relevant stack is enough. Unity, Godot or other engine experience is useful when paired with strong web fundamentals and evidence that you can adapt to lightweight browser delivery.
Nice to Have
- Owning HUD and UI design without supervision
- Building templates, pipelines or tooling that AI agents use to generate or modify games
- Experience with agentic systems
- Experience with playable ads, casual games, rapid prototypes or interactive brand experiences
- Shipped 2D or 3D games with clear personal ownership
- Asset optimization, animation, sprite sheets, audio editing or technical-art workflows
- Creative experimentation using interaction, completion or conversion metrics
- Ad packaging, CTA and event integration, MRAID or similar advertising standards
Soft Skills
- Thinks like a game architect: cares about why a design works, not only how to build it
- AI-oriented and curious about new tools and agent-driven workflows
- Strong ownership and ability to make creative and technical decisions with limited direction
- Hands-on and execution-oriented, able to balance speed, quality and scope
- Clear, proactive communicator who gives and receives design feedback well
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment
Benefits
- Fully remote across Latin America
- Direct collaboration with the founding and product teams
- High-ownership environment with significant technical and creative autonomy
- Work at the intersection of game development, AI, advertising and creative technology
- Opportunity to shape emerging AI-powered development workflows
