PLM Solution Architect
Summary
Builds the PLM platform from scratch at an early-stage Canadian defence aerospace company: architecting product data models, engineering change and configuration management, and integrating PLM with CAD, ERP, and MES systems, while mentoring the team that will maintain it. On-site in Ottawa (Toronto or Montreal considered).
Location: [Ottawa Office / Montreal or Toronto considered], On-Site
Reports to: Director of Aircraft Structures
Type: Full-Time
The Role
At an established aerospace prime, this role means integrating and scaling PLM systems that already run the business. At Dominion Dynamics, you're building that foundation from close to zero — while Structures, Propulsion, Avionics, and Systems Engineering are still standing up their own workflows around you. You architect the product data backbone — CAD, engineering change, configuration management — that the whole engineering org will run on, before headcount and program complexity make a redo prohibitively expensive.
You own the PLM platform architecture and integrations end to end, not vet a vendor's proposal someone else already scoped. That means real trade-offs between speed now and scalability later, made at a company still defining its own engineering processes rather than backfilling them into an existing one.
What You'll Do
Architect end-to-end PLM solutions that fit Dominion Dynamics' engineering processes and enterprise architecture as both are still being defined.
Work directly with engineering, program, and project leads to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions — there's no existing PLM team to hand this off to.
Define PLM data models, lifecycle management strategy, integrations, and governance for a growing product data set, with room to get it right before scale makes changes expensive.
Configure, customize, and integrate the PLM platform with CAD, ERP, MES, and other systems as they come online.
Set technical standards and best practices for design release, change management, and configuration control from the ground up.
Mentor and support the engineers and specialists who'll build and maintain the system after you architect it.
What You Bring
Experience architecting or implementing enterprise-scale PLM solutions on a platform such as Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE, Siemens Teamcenter, or PTC Windchill.
Solid grounding in product lifecycle management — engineering change management, configuration management, and product data governance.
Experience integrating PLM with CAD, CAE, ERP, MES, or other enterprise systems to support a digital thread.
Comfortable being one of the first people building this function — you can architect for scale without an existing team or system to lean on.
Strong stakeholder management — you'll work directly with engineering leads and program leadership, not just a PLM specialist team.
Nice to Have
Experience with Agile or Agile-at-Scale delivery inside an engineering organization.
Background in aerospace or another regulated hardware environment with configuration management requirements.
Experience standing up a PLM function at an earlier-stage company, not just operating one at a mature one.
No defence background required.
We've hired people who didn't tick every box. If this is the work you want to do, please apply anyway.
