PM RESIDENT AIDE - ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY

Provide daily nonmedical care and supervision to assisted-living residents, assisting with hygiene, mobility, meals, and activities while following care plans and safety protocols.

We are seeking dependable and compassionate Resident Aides/Caregivers to assist residents with daily care needs while supporting their comfort, safety, independence, and quality of life.
Position Summary
The Resident Aide provides nonmedical care and supervision to residents in accordance with each resident’s service plan, facility policies, California RCFE requirements, and applicable state regulations.
This position requires patience, good judgment, reliability, and the ability to communicate changes in a resident’s condition promptly. Resident Aides work closely with supervisors, medication technicians, nursing personnel, families, hospice and home health providers, and other members of the care team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, toileting, continence care, and personal hygiene.
- Assist residents with walking, transfers, repositioning, and the safe use of mobility equipment.
- Follow each resident’s current care plan, service plan, and documented assistance needs.
- Respond promptly and respectfully to resident call systems and requests for assistance.
- Observe residents for changes in their physical, emotional, cognitive, or behavioral condition.
- Immediately report falls, injuries, skin concerns, changes in appetite, changes in behavior, pain, illness, or other significant concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Assist residents during meals, including escorting residents to the dining room, providing feeding assistance when assigned, and monitoring food and fluid intake.
- Encourage resident independence and allow residents to complete tasks safely to the extent of their abilities.
- Complete required resident-care documentation accurately and before the end of each shift.
- Document and report services provided, resident refusals, unusual occurrences, and changes in condition.
- Assist with scheduled showers, toileting programs, repositioning schedules, room checks, and other assigned care routines.
- Make resident beds and help maintain clean, organized, and sanitary resident rooms and care areas.
- Participate in resident activities, social engagement, redirection, and companionship.
- Follow infection-control practices, including proper handwashing, use of personal protective equipment, and safe disposal of contaminated materials.
- Protect residents’ privacy, confidentiality, personal rights, dignity, and property.
- Follow procedures for fall prevention, wandering prevention, emergency response, disaster preparedness, and resident elopement prevention.
- Assist with the self-administration of medication only when properly trained, authorized, and assigned to perform that duty.
- Do not perform nursing procedures or duties outside the employee’s training, authorization, or permitted scope.
- Communicate professionally with residents, families, visitors, coworkers, supervisors, and outside healthcare providers.
- Participate in required orientation, in-service education, staff meetings, and continuing training.
- Follow all facility policies, attendance expectations, safety procedures, and mandatory-reporting requirements.
- Perform other resident-care duties reasonably assigned by the supervisor or administrator.
