Summary

Designs lab validation systems for Apple's custom power-management silicon: PCB schematic capture, layout, and review, power circuits (LDO, buck, ADC/DAC, op-amp, FPGA) and control interfaces (I2C, SPI, SPMI), with hands-on board bring-up, debug, and Python automation in a cross-functional silicon development team.

Are you interested in designing hardware as part of silicon development at Apple? Join our team at Apple developing custom mixed-signal integrated circuits for Apple’s existing and future product lines. Our small team has already shipped hundreds of millions of chips into several Apple product lines, including new products launched this year. We are looking for a hardworking engineer that is enthusiastic about embedded hardware design. You can work closely with a diverse and creative team to craft complex test systems for state-of-the-art power supplies. This role includes a broad scope of work including hardware design, simulations, software, bringup, debug, extraction, and analysis. You will work closely with a wide range of people across functions and be a key contributor to the silicon development effort. Join us in building Apple’s next generation products. Do you want to be a part of building the “surprise and delight” in Apple’s future products?

In this exciting role you will be responsible for:

  • Lab validation system design and development using circuits such as LDO, Buck, ADC, DAC, Op-AMP, FPGA etc., and control interface like I2C, SPI, SPMI, etc
  • Circuit design, schematic, analysis, layout, and review in a PCB environment
  • Excellent EE fundamentals and knowledge focusing on DC/DC, power and signal integrity, and SPICE simulations with intuitive understanding of the practical board design
  • Hands-on lab experience with hardware bring-up and debug
  • Drive, analyze and debug engineering issues to resolution working with cross-functional teams.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • MSEE preferred*
  • Experience with hardware development from specification to bring up and downstream support
  • Skilled at component development and selection for schematics design
  • Ability to design or guide high quality PCB layouts into fabrication and assembly
  • Prior experience using CAD tools such as Cadence Allegro, Altium, etc for multi-layer board layout is desired.
  • Skillful in an electronics lab environment using real time oscilloscopes, analyzers, function generators, automation hardware, power supplies, and electronic loads
  • Familiarity with challenges relating to power quality, high-speed signal integrity and control interface
  • Coding or automation experience in Python is a plus
  • Excellent written, verbal and communication skills focused on teamwork and collaboration in a dynamic cross-functional environment
