Police Officer (FT) - Night Shift (45355)
The Airport Police are a municipal police agency assigned to perform law enforcement functions at Lehigh Valley International Airport (LVIA). Principal duties include response to emergencies, general and directed patrol, investigations of crimes, investigation of non-criminal incidents, traffic enforcement /control, and other law enforcement services / duties as required. Airport Police often coordinate with federal agencies like the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the FBI.
Essential Functions
- Enforcement of applicable federal, state, or local laws, rules, and regulations.
- Prevention, investigation and detection of crime.
- Enforce TSA approved Airport security program.
- Make arrests and appear in court to present evidence and testify as needed
- Possess MPOETC Certification, or current valid examination score, and complete all required training to maintain an active certification number.
- Enforce Airport Security Program in compliance with 49 CFR 1542.
- Professionally communicate over two-way radio, telephone, and email.
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.
Additional Responsibilities
- Periodically performs foot and vehicle patrols.
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Maintain traffic flow on airport roadways and issue citations when appropriate
- Maintain law and order.
- Maintain law enforcement presence through high-visibility patrol at the airport.
- Maintain proper logbooks, reports, and forms.
- Monitor and report potential security violations/hazards.
- Maintain compliance with Wildlife Hazard Management program.
- Additional duties as assigned.
