Policy Analyst (Addiction Prevention)
This position is located in the Office of Addiction Prevention (OAP). The OAP's mission is to develop and implement evidence-based public health policies to reduce drug use and its consequences as well as to coordinate interagency public health efforts. **Notice: More than one selection may be made within 90 days of the issuance of the certificate, if additional vacancies occur.
As a Policy Analyst (Addiction Prevention), GS-0301-11, your typical work assignments may include but are not limited to the following under supervision: Provides support and assistance to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO)/Assistant Director (AD), OAP, and ONDCP leadership on issues related to drug policy and signature strategies aimed at reducing the negative consequences of illicit drug use, including by expanding access to primary prevention, treatment, recovery, and overdose rescue and response services. Alerts decision-makers to the priorities and emerging issues regarding barriers to access to critical services, and works with the OAP team, and agency and interagency staff in managing complex assignments in an effort to remove those barriers. Applies judgement and subject matter expertise in the development, modification and implementation of the National Drug Control Strategy (NDCS) in the areas of primary prevention, treatment, recovery, and overdose rescue and response. Coordinates OAP's work on the NDCS, the National Drug Control Budget, Legislative Response Memoranda (LRMs), and other critical documents to reflect research and scientific grounding in the pursuit of public health policies in primary prevention, treatment, recovery, and overdose rescue and response. Drafts, coordinates, edits, and reviews of substantive policy documents for distribution throughout ONDCP; assists with drafts, edits, and reviews documentation to be used before external constituencies by Presidential Appointment/executive-level staff.
