Job Summary:
Lifeguard I will be responsible for speaking, demonstrating, and providing feedback to children and adults. Will observe safety standard for pool both in water and on deck and will complete daily records and chemical checks.
This is a seasonal employment.
Program will run from May 18th to August 14th.
Mandatory Training:
May 18th - May 22nd
9AM - 5PM
Work Schedule Hours will be arranged upon hire
Essential Job Functions:
Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility
Act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency
Enforce rules and regulations regarding pool use
Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
Present professional appearance and attitude at all time, and maintains a high standard of customer service
Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility
Prepare and maintains appropriate activity reports
Adhere to and assist in the enforcement of the policies and procedures of the University, the Associated Students, CSUF, Inc., and Titan Recreation.
Must attend required Student Recreation Center and ASI employee orientation and trainings as well as department specific trainings and meetings
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
Other duties as assigned
Customer Service & Collaboration:
Establishes and maintains working relationships with various A.S. and University departments
Safety:
Ensures all operations are conducted with safety of staff and customers as first priority, and in accordance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and other safety policies.
Reports accidents to supervisor and reviews changes required to avoid reoccurrence.
Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party or supervisor immediately
Requirements:
Must be a currently enrolled California State University Fullerton student in good academic standing
Aquatics, swim team, or water polo experience is preferred
Must be able to swim 300 yards continuously using - front crawl, backstroke and breast stroke
Must be able to swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10-pound object and remove it from the pool within 1 minute & 30 seconds
Requirement:
Must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification or be able to obtain certification before start of employment

Work Environment:
This position requires being outdoors and in water for a minimum of 3.5 hours per day
Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water

Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift, lower, push and pull loads ranging in weight from 5-50 lbs
Must be able to carry loads ranging from 5-50 lbs for distances up to 20ft
Must be able to climb out of a pool without using a ladder and extricate a person with assistance
