OVERVIEW
The Pool Operations Supervisor supports the YMCA’s mission by providing leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations of the aquatic facility.
This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, welcoming, and well-maintained aquatic environment through effective staff supervision, scheduling, water quality management, facility operations, safety practices, and exceptional member service. The Pool Operations Supervisor supervises and develops Pool Operations Leads and ensures consistent execution of opening and closing procedures, facility inspections, water quality monitoring, preventative maintenance, operational documentation, and emergency procedures. This position works collaboratively with aquatics and facility leadership to maintain high
operational standards while creating a five-star experience for members, participants, and guests.
Essential Functions
- Provide leadership and oversight for daily pool operations, ensuring a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming aquatic environment.
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and develop Pool Operations Leads while establishing clear expectations for performance, accountability, safety, and member service.
- Champion a five-star member experience by ensuring staff actively engage members and guests, address concerns, consistently enforce pool rules, and connect individuals to YMCA programs and services.
- Oversee opening, closing, and routine facility inspections, ensuring pools, equipment, decks, locker rooms, and surrounding aquatic areas are operationally ready and properly maintained.
- Monitor water quality and chemical levels, review required operational logs, ensure established testing procedures are followed, and take appropriate corrective action when conditions fall outside acceptable ranges.
- Coordinate routine pool maintenance and preventative maintenance activities and communicate facility, equipment, water quality, and safety concerns to appropriate leadership.
- Ensure appropriate staff coverage and operational readiness based on pool schedules, programming, rentals, special events, and facility needs.
- Maintain required operational records and ensure compliance with YMCA policies, emergency action plans, abuse risk management standards, applicable health and safety requirements, and state and local regulations.
- Lead and participate in required staff trainings, safety drills, and emergency preparedness activities while ensuring employees maintain required certifications.
- Respond to member concerns, operational issues, incidents, and emergencies; communicate appropriately with leadership and complete required documentation and follow-up.
- Maintain required certifications and remain prepared to provide direct pool-deck coverage and emergency response when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
