A great apartment community is about more than the homes themselves. It’s about the experience residents have every day—from walking through clean, welcoming common areas to enjoying well-maintained grounds and amenities.

As a Porter at Flaherty & Collins Properties, you’ll play an important role in creating that experience. You’ll help keep our community clean, safe, and attractive while working alongside the Property Manager and Maintenance Supervisor to support daily operations and maintain the high standards our residents expect.

If you take pride in your work, enjoy staying active, and understand how the little details make a big difference, this could be the right opportunity for you.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of community grounds, entrances, sidewalks, parking areas, breezeways, stairwells, hallways, elevators, and other common areas.

  • Collect and remove litter and debris throughout the property to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.

  • Keep dumpster and trash collection areas neat, assist with bulk-item removal, and report overflowing containers or service issues.

  • Complete routine property walks to identify and report safety hazards, damage, lighting issues, needed repairs, and other concerns.

  • Help prepare and maintain shared amenities, including the clubhouse, fitness center, pool area, and mail and package areas, as applicable to the community.

  • Support curb appeal by sweeping, picking up litter, removing cobwebs, cleaning entry glass, and completing other routine cleaning tasks.

  • Assist with seasonal property upkeep, including snow and ice removal, salting, leaf removal, and other weather-related tasks as directed.

  • Promptly report pest activity, spills, leaks, vandalism, abandoned items, and potential slip, trip, or fall hazards.

  • Assist the maintenance team with light, non-technical tasks and special projects within your training and authorization.

  • Use cleaning products, tools, and equipment safely, store them properly, and report damaged equipment or supply needs.

  • Provide courteous and professional interactions with residents, prospective residents, vendors, and coworkers.

  • Direct resident service requests and maintenance concerns to the appropriate team member.

  • Deliver notices or other items to apartments when requested and authorized by management.

  • Follow company policies, established safety procedures, and applicable requirements while performing daily responsibilities.

  • Assist the Property Manager and Maintenance Supervisor with additional tasks as needed.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • Previous experience in janitorial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, porter, or general labor work preferred; multifamily housing experience is a plus.

  • The ability to follow cleaning schedules, checklists, and established procedures.

  • A strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and a willingness to take initiative.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to recognize issues that need to be reported.

  • The ability to safely use basic cleaning tools and equipment, with a willingness to learn property-specific procedures.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with team members.

  • A professional, courteous, and resident-focused approach to your work.

  • The ability to manage daily tasks reliably with limited supervision.

  • A willingness to work indoors and outdoors and assist with seasonal property needs.

Benefits Package:

  • Health Benefits: Medical, Vision & Dental Insurance
  • Wellness Benefits: Employee Assistance Program
  • Virtual Doctor Visits
  • Retirement Planning: 401k program with a company match
  • Employer-Paid Life Insurance
  • Paid Time Off- Personal Time, Birthday, Diversity Day, and 8.5 Holidays.
