POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, detail-oriented, and hospitality-driven Porter to join the Moss New York team with Compass Group. Porters play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of the restaurant, ensuring that both front-of-house and back-of-house areas consistently meet the highest standards. This role is essential to creating a polished and welcoming environment by keeping dining spaces, service stations, kitchens, storage areas, and common areas clean, stocked, and well-maintained throughout service. The Porter helps support the entire restaurant team by ensuring a safe, sanitary, and efficient workplace that allows exceptional guest experiences to happen seamlessly. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, and understands that excellence behind the scenes is fundamental to delivering a world-class dining experience.

COMPENSATION:

The hourly wage for this position is $20.00/hour


CLASSIFICATION:

This is a non-exempt, hourly position. In accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), you are eligible for overtime pay at one and a half times your regular rate for all hours worked over 40 in a single workweek.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: (including but not limited to)

  • Receive, label, date, and properly store all deliveries in designated storage areas, ensuring organization and compliance with food safety standards.
  • Remove trash, recycling, and cardboard throughout the day to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
  • Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment in accordance with health and sanitation guidelines.
  • Conduct regular checks of kitchen and service areas to replenish operational needs and transport dirty or clean cookware, plateware, and equipment as required.
  • Communicate and coordinate daily responsibilities with fellow Porters, Chefs, and management to support smooth restaurant operations.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned work areas, service stations, storage spaces, and common areas throughout each shift.
  • Clean and sanitize floors, shelves, walls, counters, waste disposal areas, storage rooms, and other restaurant facilities to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness.
  • Support the overall success of the operation by performing additional duties and special cleaning projects as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 year experience in restaurants.
  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 30+ pounds.
  • Flexible availability for AM and PM shifts, including weekends.
  • Strong teamwork, professionalism, and a hospitality-first mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and composure.
