Franklin Templeton is a global investment management organization serving retail, institutional and high-net-worth clients across markets and asset classes. In India, the Fixed Income team is responsible for managing fixed income portfolios with a disciplined investment process, strong risk orientation, and a focus on delivering outcomes consistent with fund mandates, client expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Manage assigned fixed income portfolios in line with stated investment objectives, risk parameters, benchmark considerations, client mandates, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Undertake portfolio management and dealing responsibilities across money market instruments.
Develop and implement portfolio strategies across duration, yield curve positioning, credit allocation, liquidity, security selection, and relative value opportunities.
Strong understanding of the Indian economy and fixed income markets, with demonstrated ability to analyse macroeconomic trends, interest rate cycles, monetary policy, inflation, liquidity conditions, credit spreads, and market technicals.
Maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external market participants while upholding fiduciary responsibility, investment integrity, and Franklin Templeton’s standards of conduct.
Work closely with research, credit, dealing, risk, compliance, operations, and product teams to ensure portfolios are managed with strong investment discipline and process integrity.
Ensure portfolio risks are prudently identified, monitored, and managed, including duration risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, concentration risk, counterparty risk, and regulatory risk.
Contribute to investment committee discussions, portfolio reviews, performance attribution, risk analysis, and decision-making forums.
Stay current on SEBI, RBI, AMFI, and other applicable regulatory requirements impacting mutual fund fixed income portfolios and investment processes in India.
Support new product ideas, portfolio positioning notes, client communication inputs, market commentaries, and internal stakeholder discussions as required.

Qualifications and experience of an ideal candidate include:
15 years of experience in financial services with at least 5 years of experience in money markets, with meaningful portfolio management experience in the industry
Strong understanding of Indian debt markets, including government securities, money markets, corporate bonds, credit markets, yield curve dynamics, liquidity conditions, and regulatory developments.
CA or MBA in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline preferred; CFA or an equivalent professional qualification would be an added advantage.
Demonstrated ability to manage fixed income portfolios within defined investment objectives, risk limits, liquidity requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
Strong analytical capability across macroeconomics, rates, credit, portfolio construction, performance attribution, and risk management.
Sound knowledge of SEBI mutual fund regulations, RBI market frameworks, AMFI requirements, and investment compliance expectations relevant to Indian fixed income portfolios.
Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate portfolio strategy, market views, performance drivers, and risk considerations to internal and external stakeholders.
High attention to detail, sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced investment environment.
Collaborative working style with strong relationship-building skills and the ability to partner effectively across investment, risk, compliance, operations, product, sales, and client-facing teams.
