Portfolio Manager
Description
As a Portfolio Manager, you'll give our executives and delivery leaders confidence in how our portfolio is performing. You'll provide independent assurance and clear, decision-ready analysis, and help evolve the frameworks, policies and templates that make delivery easier, not harder. Working in an environment where frameworks, data and requirements are still maturing, you'll partner with senior leaders, Program Managers and Project Managers to surface risks early, strengthen investment decisions and help RAC's strategic initiatives deliver lasting value for our members and business.
We are offering a 12-month maximum term contract with a competitive salary of $120,000 - $135,000 plus superannuation, dependent on experience. This role is based at our West Perth Head Office, with hybrid working arrangements available. An extension to the contract term or conversion to permanent employment may be possible.
You will be supported by a Portfolio Coordinator and have no direct reports.
What will you be doing?
- Provide independent portfolio assurance, including quality reviews of programs and projects, that gives decision-makers confidence in delivery, benefits realisation and risk management.
- Analyse portfolio performance and tailor reports and insights to the needs of Executive, Board and committee audiences, driving better decisions and portfolio outcomes.
- Monitor portfolio financial performance, change control and benefits realisation, providing practical recommendations to optimise value, delivery outcomes and investment decisions.
- Partner with our Project Delivery Team, contributing to the ongoing improvement of portfolio, program and project management frameworks, policies, processes and templates so they are practical, proportionate and fit for purpose.
- Build trusted relationships with business leaders, Program Managers and Project Managers, providing expert advice and influence that helps teams adopt good practice because it adds value, not because it is enforced.
- Contribute analysis and insights to key governance forums, providing pragmatic, risk-informed advice that supports organisational obligations.
What this role is, and isn't
- This role is about: independent analysis, assurance reviews that add real insight, and tailored advice for senior decision-makers. You'll shape your approach and priorities in an environment where direction is not always fully defined.
- This role isn't about: policing compliance, administering process, or producing reports without analysis.
What are we looking for in you?
- Experience in a mid-to-senior PMO role, with prior exposure to project delivery.
- Experience developing and/or enhancing project management policies, frameworks, processes and templates.
- A solid understanding of what senior and executive decision-makers need, with experience tailoring reports and analysis to suit and translating complex data into clear insights and recommendations.
- Comfort working in ambiguity, with the ability to shape your approach and priorities where direction is not fully defined.
- A pragmatic, outcome-focused approach, with the judgement to make a recommendation when the answer isn't clear-cut and the credibility to influence senior stakeholders.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience. Project management certification (e.g. PMP or PRINCE2) is highly regarded.
- Experience with Agile, Lean, change management, portfolio management tools and business intelligence reporting will be highly regarded.
What can we offer you?
- Direct exposure to executive and Board-level decision-making, where your analysis and advice will be used.
- Work with a team that is delivering on our promise to make a safe, sustainable and connected Western Australia.
- Join a team that values engagement and personal development, with continuous learning opportunities in a supportive environment.
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements, including temporary remote work options and a focus on work-life balance.
- Contribute to initiatives that directly enhance RAC's services to its members and the community.
- Be part of an organisation that embraces diversity and inclusion, ensuring a welcoming environment for all employees.
- A strong focus on employee wellbeing, including mental health support, wellness programs and fitness incentives.
- Meaningful community and social responsibility initiatives that align with RAC's values and mission.
