Portfolio Operations Manager, Commercial
NewBe an early applicantThis position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Portfolio Operations Manager, Commercial based in United States.
This role manages a substantial portfolio of commercial solar and energy storage assets, serving as a trusted operational and technical partner to clients.
You will oversee assets across their post-commercial-operation lifecycle, balancing performance, service delivery, reporting, and client satisfaction.
The position combines relationship management with hands-on coordination across performance management, field operations, and technical teams.
You will translate complex system data into clear business insights around production, revenue, risk, maintenance, and asset health.
You will also identify recurring issues, coordinate technical escalations, and help clients make informed repair, replacement, and warranty decisions.
Success requires strong organization, technical curiosity, communication skills, and an ownership mindset in a fast-moving environment.
This is an opportunity to contribute directly to renewable-energy performance while growing within a mission-driven organization.

- Provide monthly asset performance reporting, combining executive-level summaries with detailed technical explanations when appropriate.
- Translate technical performance data into business impact, connecting lost production to revenue loss, downtime to guarantee or incentive risk, maintenance recommendations to cost avoidance, and increased availability to additional revenue.

- Support client retention, renewals, and overall portfolio health through effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Coordinate service reporting and support field technicians completing work at client sites.

- Maintain working knowledge of common solar failure modes and monitoring-system alarm patterns to support informed technical discussions with clients and internal specialists.
- Advise clients on repair-versus-replacement and warranty-pursuit decisions using insights from technical and performance teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and continuously enhance the client experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in commercial operations and maintenance, asset management, field service management, account management, or a related function.
- At least 2 years of experience in the solar energy industry, with 3+ years of overall professional experience demonstrating strong professional judgment and acumen.
- Proven client success or customer service experience, with excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong professional email etiquette.
- Familiarity with solar monitoring DAS platforms, system alerts, performance data, and troubleshooting workflows.
- Experience reading and interpreting solar system design drawings.
- Solid understanding of solar PV technology, including components, installation, monitoring, maintenance practices, and performance troubleshooting.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Technical aptitude and the ability to quickly learn and use CRM, support-ticketing, ERP, business intelligence, and other operational systems.
- Strong ownership mentality, including the ability to follow issues through resolution, escalate appropriately, and maintain proactive client communication.
- Ability to remain composed under pressure and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
- Curiosity and willingness to continuously learn and expand technical and operational expertise.
- Experience with commercial post-installation solar operations is strongly preferred.
- 3+ years of solar industry experience is a plus.
- $68,000–$84,000 annual base salary, with opportunities for annual merit increases based on performance and development.
