Portfolio Project Manager – Utility-Scale Solar PV | Cape Town
Copper Quail is recruiting on behalf of one of South Africa's leading IPPs — a serious player with a growing portfolio of utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects.
This is an owner-side leadership role. You'll take a defined portfolio of solar projects from transaction phase right through construction, commissioning, handover and DLP — acting as the owner's representative and keeping delivery, governance and risk firmly under control.
What you'll be doing (in a nutshell):
- Owner-side delivery assurance across a portfolio of utility-scale Solar PV projects
- Supporting transactions, financing due diligence, budgeting and construction readiness
- Driving EPC/BOP procurement, contract negotiation and early works
- Managing and coordinating Project Managers and site teams through construction
- Reporting to shareholders, lenders and senior leadership on progress, risk and milestones
This is an overview — the full scope is broader, and we'll take you through it.
What we need from you (the basics):
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, QS or similar
- Compulsory: utility-scale Solar PV development and execution experience on the owner / IPP / developer / owner's engineer side
- Ideally 10+ years in major engineering or infrastructure projects, with 5+ in renewables in South Africa
- SACPCMP, ECSA or PMP registration advantageous
Cape Town based. Fixed-term contract. Travel to project sites as required.
If you've delivered utility-scale solar on the owner's side and you're ready to run a portfolio, we want to talk to you.
