The Yizhou Dong Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated synthetic or medicinal chemist to join our research team and develop novel chemical materials for RNA delivery. The candidate will synthesize and characterize new functional compounds for the delivery of RNA therapeutics. The candidate will perform independent research in the area of RNA medicine, critically analyze data quality and results, communicate results to scientist and lay people, write and assist in writing scientific papers, grants and collaborate closely with other scientists to conduct research. This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment at the intersection of chemistry, nanomedicine, RNA therapeutics, and translational research.

Goals/Outcomes of the Research Project: Design and develop next generation RNA medicine.

Responsibilities:

• Perform chemical synthesis in the area of RNA medicine
• Critically analyze data quality and results
• Write or assist in writing scientific papers
• Collaborate closely with other scientists to conduct research

Qualifications:

PhD required in organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, chemical biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field, with strong expertise in multistep organic synthesis, compound purification, and structural characterization.

Experience:

Working in a research laboratory setting.

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $74,692.00 - $80,000.00 Annually.Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
