The Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology seeks Postdoctoral Scholar to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying neurological disorders, with a particular focus on ion channel signaling, and neurodegenerative disease-related pathways in the laboratory.

  1. Performs mouse brain surgery, in vivo Ca2+ imaging of the mouse brain.
  2. Performs behavioral testing using mice.
  3. Analyses data using statistical tools.
  4. Creates imaging using confocal microscopes.
  5. Performs gene cloning, cell culture, proteomics.
  6. Performs RNA sequencing, flow cytometry.
  7. Performs western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunocytochemistry.
  8. Assist with writing manuscripts.

EDUCATION: Ph.D. in the field of Neuroscience or similar field.

EXPERIENCE: Prior research experience in basic science, clinical research, or biomedical engineering is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Skill in patch-clamp, gene cloning, proteomics, confocal imaging, brain surgery, brain Ca2+ imaging in vivo, behavioral testing, brain histology, and computational/statistical analyses.
  • Ability to work independently, self-motivated and detail oriented.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
