Power BI Analyst Student Trainee (Volunteer)
Summary
Develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and perform data analysis using Excel to support a financial management group. Tasks include connecting and cleaning data with Power Query, documenting sources, and collaborating on reporting requirements.
Volunteer, project-based opportunity with Mission Support, AJV-H Financial Management Group (Legacy AJG-R1) to support real Federal missions, while gaining experience and career-ready skills. Students must be enrolled no less than half-time in an accredited trade school, technical/vocational institute, junior college, college, university, or other accredited institution. With this project, you'll support a dynamic financial management -based project.
The Student Trainee will Develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards to visualize organizational data and support informed decision-making. Collaborate with project leads to gather reporting requirements and translate them into user-friendly dashboard solutions. Connect, clean, and transform data from multiple sources using Power Query and basic data modeling techniques. Document dashboard design, data sources, and report functionality while applying intermediate Power BI skills and best practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze data, create formulas, develop spreadsheets, and use automated systems within the Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work collaboratively with others, manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, and work independently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment. The student will perform selected on the job assignments and receive instruction on agency or departmental goals, objectives, regulations, procedures, occupational hazards, safety standards, inspection techniques and work processes. APPOINTMENT: If selected, your volunteer role may not exceed a total of 120 days after completing educational requirements. Participation in this program may be terminated at any time. AGREEMENT: All participants must sign a written Volunteer Service Agreement with their manager that clearly identifies expectations of the appointment such as duties, length of appointment, work schedule, training, mentorship etc.
