Power BI Developer
Permanent, Full Time
Melbourne CBD, Hybrid working (3 days in office)
Salary: $120,000 to $140,000 + Superannuation
About the opportunity:
A large scale agriculture company with a national footprint and a strong transformation agenda is looking for a Power BI Developer to join its growing data function. The business is investing heavily in turning operational data into meaningful business insight, and this role sits at the centre of that effort, converting raw data from across the operation into dashboards and reporting that genuinely influence decision making. You will also provide technical guidance to a junior developer already in the team, making this a great opportunity for someone ready to step into a more senior, delivery owning capacity.
What you'll be doing:
- Building and evolving a suite of Power BI dashboards used day to day across the business
- Pulling together data from a range of operational systems spread across different regions
- Writing DAX logic to turn raw figures into the metrics stakeholders actually care about
- Querying and shaping data in SQL ahead of it hitting a report
- Structuring underlying data models properly, including managing who can see what through access controls
- Sitting down with stakeholders across the transformation function to figure out what's actually worth reporting on
- Bringing some order to how reports get built and documented as the team grows
- Acting as a go to for a junior developer already in the team, helping them level up
- A track record of delivering Power BI solutions commercially, ideally at a mid to senior level
- Confident, advanced level DAX
- Strong SQL for pulling and prepping data
- Proper data modelling chops, comfortable structuring schemas rather than just connecting to what's already there
- Hands on experience controlling report access at a granular level
- Comfortable owning a piece of work from raw data through to a finished dashboard
- Happy to informally guide or upskill a more junior team member
- Strong communicator, able to sit with non technical stakeholders and land on what actually matters to report
- Experience working with livestock, primary production or other regional/operational data
- Exposure to Azure data services (Data Factory, Synapse or similar)
- Experience helping stand up or mature a BI function rather than just working within an established one
