Analytical Thinking & Business Insight

  • Convert business problems into analytical logic and data models

  • Validate metrics against source systems before release

  • Identify trends, anomalies, leakage, and operational risks

  • Support decision-making with accurate, explainable insights

  • Create documentation for KPIs, calculations, and data flows

Power BI Development

  • Build high-quality Power BI dashboards and reports with a strong focus on usability and clarity

  • Write advanced DAX measures in a highly optimized manner to achieve business requirements

  • Design calculations for complex scenarios such as rolling metrics, comparisons, conditional logic, and cumulative values

  • Optimize DAX to reduce query execution time and improve report responsiveness

  • Manage relationships, filters, and calculation logic to avoid ambiguity or incorrect results

  • Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) based on business rules

  • Configure dataset refresh, manage gateways, and troubleshoot refresh failures in Power BI Service

Advanced SQL Development

  • Write highly optimized, production-grade SQL queries

  • Use complex joins, CTEs, sub queries, and window functions effectively

  • Create SQL logic for:

    • Incremental data loads

    • Deduplication and data cleansing

    • Historical tracking and change detection

    • Aggregations and pre-calculations

  • Analyze query execution plans and optimize performance

  • Design and maintain:

    • SQL views

    • Materialized views

    • Reporting tables

  • Handle large datasets (millions to billions of rows) efficiently

  • Perform root-cause analysis for data mismatches and incorrect metrics

Data Architecture & Warehousing Concepts

  • Design analytical data structures suitable for reporting and performance

  • Decide what logic should live in SQL vs Power BI (DAX) based on scalability and maintainability

  • Define fact and dimension-type tables based on business processes

  • Design aggregation layers and summary tables where required

  • Ensure consistent metric definitions across reports and datasets

  • Review existing data structures and recommend architectural improvements

  • Work closely with engineering teams on data ingestion and transformation logic

Requirements

  • Must have at least 4 years of strong experience in Power BI.

  • Take full ownership of analytics solutions

  • Design data structures, not just consume them

  • Write clean, efficient, and scalable SQL

  • Decide the right balance between SQL, Power BI, and upstream transformations

  • Deliver insights that directly impact business outcomes

  • Ensure accuracy, performance, and consistency across all reports

  • Act as a go-to person for analytics architecture and data logic
