Power Generation Engineer
You will lead the end-to-end management of natural gas power generation facility projects, from design and construction through to operation. You will assist procurement in specifying electrical equipment and coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure projects run smoothly. You will provide engineering recommendations and technical support for power generation and electrical design, and help with cost estimation, budgeting, and scheduling. You will establish technical standards, verify equipment and installations meet requirements during construction, and confirm all necessary tests are completed. You'll support new site development, perform power system modeling and analysis, monitor construction quality and commissioning, and manage project documentation and permits. You'll resolve technical and logistical challenges, ensure regulatory compliance, communicate across teams, troubleshoot issues, and keep senior management and investors updated on project status.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end project management of natural gas power generation facilities, from design and construction to operation
- Assist procurement in specifying electrical equipment and coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders
- Provide engineering recommendations and technical support for power generation and electrical engineering design, scope of work, and equipment procurement
- Assist with cost allocation/estimation, budgeting, resource planning, scheduling, and overall project management
- Establish technical standards for reviews, documentation, and designs
- Verify equipment matches requirements and design during construction, ensure installations meet standards, and confirm tests satisfy code requirements
- Provide technical support for new site development
- Perform power system modeling, analysis, and design
- Monitor construction progress, quality control, and commissioning activities
- Manage project documentation, permits, and reporting for internal and external stakeholders
- Resolve technical and logistical challenges to minimize delays and cost overruns
- Comply with local, state, and federal regulations
- Communicate engineering information across teams and departments
- Troubleshoot to solve unforeseen problems
- Provide regular updates to senior management and investors on project status
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or a related field); a Master's degree or PMP certification is a plus
- 8–10 years of project management experience in power generation, preferably in natural gas plants
- Proven track record of managing large-scale EPC projects (valued at $50M+), with a strong preference for Data Center experience
- Strong knowledge of gas turbines (e.g., GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Bergen) and related systems
- Familiarity with FIDIC contracts, NEC, or other international contracting standards
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, and power system modeling software
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teams and other design professionals
- Strong communication skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to travel to various locations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
