Electrical Engineer – Power System Studies

Power Systems | Data Centres | Energy Infrastructure

USA – Fully Remote

$130,000 – $190,000 + Bonus & Benefits

Full-time

I’m currently supporting a specialist power engineering consultancy that is growing its team and looking for an Electrical Engineer with strong Power Systems and PSCAD/EMT experience.

You’ll work directly with senior engineers on technically challenging projects across hyperscale data centres, behind-the-meter , BESS, microgrids and next- energy infrastructure.

What you’ll work on:

  • PSCAD / EMT modelling – building, validating and running electromagnetic transient models
  • Power system studies – load flow, short circuit, dynamic stability, protection coordination and RAM
  • BESS & inverter-based resources – including grid-forming and grid-following controls
  • Data centre & microgrid projects – large-load dynamics, islanded systems and behind-the-meter
  • Synchronous machines & controls – AVR, governors and PSS
  • Technical reports and client-facing engineering deliverables
  • Emerging technologies including HVDC, SMRs and advanced power system controls

Ideal background:

  • 5–8 years’ power systems experience
  • Strong hands-on PSCAD / EMT modelling experience
  • Experience with PSS/E, ETAP or DIgSILENT
  • Solid understanding of power systems, symmetrical components and machine dynamics
  • Experience with IBRs, BESS, HVDC or power electronics
