Position Overview
Seeking an Applications Engineer to support the design and implementation of electrical power solutions for data center environments. This role works with sales, customers, consultants, contractors, and internal engineering teams to turn project requirements into practical, technically sound solutions.
Responsibilities
- Translate customer requirements into engineered solutions for data center electrical systems.
- Work with sales teams to develop technical solutions and support customer opportunities.
- Prepare customer proposals, submittal packages, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate order entry and monitor projects through production and field startup.
- Provide drawings, compliance documentation, and other technical materials for customer approval.
- Advise customers and consultants on power distribution and STS applications and best practices.
- Troubleshoot equipment and application issues during installation, commissioning, and operation.
- Conduct technical presentations and training for customers, consultants, and channel partners.
- Support product testing, application note development, and competitive analysis.
- Collect customer feedback and communicate findings to product development and R&D teams.
- Travel approximately 25–35% to customer locations, job sites, and data center facilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of applications, field, and/or design engineering experience related to data center electrical infrastructure.
- 2+ years of AutoCAD drafting experience.
- Strong understanding of data center electrical architecture, including UL 891 switchboards, PDUs, STSs, and redundancy strategies such as N+1 and 2N.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines, schematics, and specifications.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically as required.
