Job Summary:

The Powerline Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the construction, maintenance, and repair of powerline infrastructure supporting oil and gas operations. This role ensures that high-voltage transmission and distribution systems are installed and maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the installation, repair, and maintenance of high-voltage powerlines, substations, and related infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure project timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
  • Review construction plans, blueprints, and technical specifications for powerline installations.
  • Direct and oversee powerline crews, including linemen, foremen, and subcontractors.
  • Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide on-the-job training to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Foster a culture of safety and teamwork within the crew.
  • Ensure all work is performed following OSHA, NESC, and other applicable safety standards.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits to minimize risks.
  • Develop and enforce job-specific safety plans and hazard mitigation strategies.
  • Supervise the construction and installation of power poles, towers, transformers, and electrical components.
  • Ensure proper stringing, sagging, and tensioning of powerlines.
  • Inspect and troubleshoot electrical systems, resolving any technical issues that arise.
  • Coordinate equipment, tools, and materials to ensure availability and proper use at job sites.
  • Manage project budgets, labor hours, and resource allocation effectively.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers to secure timely delivery of materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of work progress, material usage, and safety reports.
  • Prepare and submit daily progress reports to project management and stakeholders.
  • Document as-built conditions and ensure compliance with turnover requirements.
