Practical Nurse (Outpatient)

About the Position: This position is located within the McDonald Army Health Center's Women's Health Clinic. Hours are Monday-Friday 0730-1630 no nights, weekends, or holidays required. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Incentives may be available for highly qualified applicants. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation.

Provide practical nursing care to patients in the outpatient clinic with a variety of medical conditions, performing tasks such as recording vital signs, ordering labs, tracking laboratory/radiology orders, referral results, and making appointments.

Initiates and maintains medical histories on patients, records observations, and identifies symptoms for use by the clinician.

Administers prescribed medications with increased independence, ensuring proper patient dosages, routes, and times are followed.

Prepares and delivers oral, topical, and injectable forms while monitoring for and responding to side effects or adverse reactions.

Assists in performing and managing medical procedures, physical examinations, and treatments.

Utilizes electronic health record and information technology as effective communication and management tools to facilitate the patient experience and coordination.

Provides patient and family education tailored to specific medical conditions, treatment plans, and recovery goals.
