Practice Manager

The Practice Manager I is responsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day operations of an assigned physician network office, managing three to four healthcare providers at one site or two to three providers across multiple sites. This role collaborates closely with physicians, mid-level providers, staff, and internal service lines—including pharmacy and specialty care—to support effective clinical operations and community engagement.

The Practice Manager II oversees facility operations to improve utilization and maintain operational efficiency, supervises and recruits clinical and clerical staff, assigns duties, and establishes work schedules. This position ensures staff are properly trained in their job functions and in compliance with new regulations and requirements, manages financial goals to support practice viability, oversees clinical and administrative inventory, and maintains records while coordinating facility repairs through property management.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure day-to-day business is handled according to office and medical guidelines.

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships and communication with health center departments/staff such as but not limited to Medical Director, Senior Management, Chief Nursing Officer, Business Office, Information Support, Quality Improvement, Risk Management, Pharmacy, Behavioral Health, Diabetes Case Management, HIV Case Management, Specialty Care.

  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate and discipline staff.

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships and communication with

external organizations, community partners, vendors, etc.

  • Manage staff schedules and coverage.

  • Monitor provider schedules and daily patient flow.

  • Receive and resolve patient complaints.

  • Ensure supplies and purchases are adequate to support the provision of quality care in a fiscally responsible manner.

  • Represent the organization and practice site in the community in a positive manner.

  • Maintain updated records such as but not limited to OSHA, PHS, CDC, PCMH, BCCCP.

  • Participate/support quality improvement and patient-centered medical home activities.

  • Monitor and submit payroll timely.

  • Triage patients.

  • And other duties as assigned
