Pre Commissioning Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Pre-Commissioning Engineer to join our team for an upcoming marine pipeline project in Qatar. The ideal candidate will possess deep practical and technical engineering knowledge of pipeline integrity and pre-commissioning services, managing operations from initial flooding and cleaning through to final nitrogen purging before the asset goes live. Key Responsibilities • Pre-Commissioning Operations: Plan, engineering-supervise, and execute full-sequence pipeline pre-commissioning activities, including cleaning, gauging, hydrotesting, dewatering, drying, and nitrogen purging. • Procedure Development: Prepare and review detailed engineering method statements, calculation sheets, risk assessments (HIRA), and operational procedures for subsea/onshore pipeline integrity services. • Hydrotesting & Pressurization: Oversee hydrostatic strength and leak testing, ensuring accurate pressure monitoring, hold periods, and compliance with international standards (e.g., ASME, API). • Drying & Purging: Supervise advanced pipeline drying techniques (such as air vacuum drying, chemical swabbing, or desiccant drying) and manage high-pressure nitrogen purging/blanketing operations. • Equipment Management: Coordinate the mobilization, setup, and operation of specialized pre-commissioning equipment, including high-flow filling pumps, high-pressure test pumps, air compressors, vacuum spreads, and nitrogen generation units. • Data & Instrumentation: Monitor and verify data from engineering instrumentation (deadweight testers, temperature charts, flow meters) to ensure precise execution and reporting. • QA/QC & Documentation: Compile comprehensive final pre-commissioning data books, engineering reports, and certification packages for client approval. • HSE Compliance: Enforce strict safety protocols specific to high-pressure testing, hazardous gas handling, and marine/offshore operations.
Qualifications & Experience • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Civil Engineering. • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of direct experience as a Pre-Commissioning Engineer in pipeline or marine infrastructure projects. • Project Location: Previous experience working on oil & gas or marine projects in the GCC region (Qatar experience is highly advantageous). Technical Expertise: Proven, hands-on engineering experience running the following operations: • Pigging operations (Bi-di pigs, foam pigs, gauging plates). • Hydrotesting and pipeline dewatering. • Deep pipeline drying and dew-point verification. • Nitrogen handling and purging protocols. • Certifications: Valid offshore survival certificates (BOSIET/HUET) and a valid passport are preferred due to project mobilization requirements.
