Pre-Sales Architect – Security Operations (SecOps)
Summary
Act as a technical advisor for cybersecurity sales, translating customer SecOps challenges into solution designs and guiding them on SIEM, SOAR, XDR, and MDR technologies.
GuidePoint Security provides trusted cybersecurity expertise, solutions and services that help organizations make better decisions and minimize risk. By taking a three-tiered, holistic approach for evaluating security posture and ecosystems, GuidePoint enables some of the nation’s top organizations, such as Fortune 500 companies and U.S. government agencies, to identify threats, optimize resources and integrate best-fit solutions that mitigate risk.
GuidePoint Security is seeking a Security Architect (Security Operations Presales) to join our Security Operations practice and serve as a trusted technical advisor to prospects and customers throughout the sales cycle. Applicants must currently live in our Northeast region (ideally New England or New York Metro) to be considered. This is a customer-facing position that will require travel as needed primarily throughout the Northeast for customer meetings, workshops, conferences, and internal collaboration. You will work remotely the remainder of the time.
Role Overview
You will partner with account executives, practice leadership, and delivery teams to understand customer security operations challenges, build confidence in GuidePoint's capabilities, and develop practical Security Operations solutions.
This is a customer-facing role focused on technical discovery, solution design, service positioning, and sales enablement. It is not focused on deep implementation or day-to-day operational administration.
You will work across security operations, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR), Managed Detection and Response (MDR), Extended Detection and Response (XDR), threat detection, incident response, log management, security analytics, automation, and operational maturity. You should be comfortable discussing both established technologies and emerging approaches to modern Security Operations Centers (SOCs).
What You'll Do
- Lead technical discovery calls and translate customer challenges into clear requirements and high-level solution designs.
- Help customers evaluate and improve their Security Operations capabilities, including monitoring, detection engineering, incident response, automation, threat hunting, and SOC maturity.
- Speak credibly about relevant technologies, integrations, and architectural trade-offs across platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, Google SecOps, CrowdStrike Falcon Next-Gen SIEM, Palo Alto Cortex XSIAM/XDR, IBM QRadar, Sumo Logic, Elastic, SentinelOne, Exabeam, Rapid7, ServiceNow Security Operations, and other SecOps technologies.
- Understand the relationships between telemetry sources, endpoint security, identity, cloud platforms, network security, threat intelligence, SIEM, SOAR, XDR, case management, and incident response workflows.
- Create high-level architecture diagrams, operating models, roadmaps, and solution recommendations.
- Validate technical feasibility and identify assumptions, dependencies, risks, and customer responsibilities before formal scoping.
- Position GuidePoint's Security Operations services, including SOC assessments, SIEM implementations, SIEM modernization, SOAR automation, XDR strategy, MDR advisory, SOC optimization, incident response readiness, managed security services, and Security Operations as a Service.
- Support account executives during customer meetings, presentations, workshops, and proposal development.
- Work with practice leadership to develop scopes of work that are technically sound, achievable, and aligned with customer outcomes.
- Collaborate with delivery architects and engineering teams to ensure smooth transitions from sales to implementation and ongoing service delivery.
- Stay current on Security Operations trends, emerging platforms, AI-driven detection and response, automation, threat intelligence, and evolving attacker techniques.
- Help develop reusable sales materials, discovery questions, reference architectures, demonstrations, and solution frameworks for the Security Operations practice.
What We're Looking For
- Technically credible: You understand modern Security Operations ecosystems, including SIEM, SOAR, XDR, endpoint detection and response (EDR), detection engineering, incident response, threat hunting, security monitoring, automation, and reporting.
- Consultative: You can uncover the real problem behind a customer request rather than immediately recommending a product or predefined service.
- Approachable and articulate: You can explain complex technical and operational concepts in accessible language.
- Customer-focused: You listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and build trust quickly with both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
- Broad rather than product-limited: You are comfortable working across multiple security platforms and helping customers make decisions based on their environment, maturity, and business objectives.
- Commercially aware: You understand how technical recommendations affect scope, delivery effort, risk, timeline, and customer expectations.
- Curious and adaptable: You are motivated to learn new technologies and approaches as the Security Operations landscape continues to evolve.
- Experience working within an enterprise Security Operations Center (SOC), consulting organization, technology vendor, or pre-sales engineering team is preferred.
- Experience assessing or designing SIEM, SOAR, XDR, EDR, MDR, threat detection, incident response, or SOC modernization solutions is highly valued.
- Deep implementation expertise across every platform is not required. We value breadth, communication, technical judgment, and the ability to involve the appropriate specialists when deeper expertise is needed.
Ideal Candidate Background
The ideal candidate has experienced Security Operations from multiple perspectives.
They may have:
- Worked within an enterprise SOC and understand the operational realities of monitoring, investigating, and responding to security incidents.
- Evaluated, implemented, or validated multiple SIEM, SOAR, XDR, EDR, MDR, or security analytics platforms.
- Experience in a technical pre-sales, consulting, architecture, engineering, or customer advisory position.
- A strong understanding of both technology and operational maturity, recognizing that successful Security Operations require people, processes, and technology working together.
Personality Fit
The right person communicates clearly, is technically credible, friendly, curious, and grounded. They know when to involve deeper technical specialists and leave customers feeling confident that GuidePoint understands their Security Operations challenges and can successfully deliver the proposed solution.
