Location: Rochester, NY , On-SIte
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am -4:00pm
Compensation: $22.00-$28.00 based on experience
The Precision Measurement & Inspection Technician is responsible for interpreting blueprints form GD&T to guide their inspection of all materials mechanical in nature. This is a critical function as the first check point for supplier quality. Additionally, the Inspection department provides inspection services for the floor when there are questionable issues. The Precision Measurement & Inspection Technician works with a high level of independence and contributes to inspections of incoming material that is mechanical in nature, received from both external and internal suppliers, formally rejected by assemblers, or returned from the field.
Role and Responsibilities:
· Reads blueprints as well as interprets and applies GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to inspect incoming mechanical materials thoroughly.
· Utilizes quality control processes, sampling systems, and procedures to ensure part conformance to specifications.
· Ensures QVI incoming quality control product specifications and standards are achieved and maintained.
· Maintains detailed and accurate record keeping practices.
· Accepts or rejects parts that are purchased externally or manufactured within the corporation.
· Works independently and provides guidance and mentorship as needed to Level I inspectors
· Utilize CMMs, vision systems, calipers, micrometers, plug/thread gages, etc., as well as GD&T
· Other related duties or tasks assigned by management.
· Inspect precision parts to tight dimensional tolerances using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, CMM, and other metrology tools.
Those who have worked as a mechanical quality inspector, machinist, or in a role that involves mechanical design may do well in this role! Candidates who have quality experience with plate inspection and GD&T could be a fit for this role as well.
