Job summary

Responsible for supporting Prepared Foods, Catering, Deli, Bakery, Cheese, and Charcuterie operations through a combination of office administration and hands-on market support. The position serves as a liaison between customers, store teams, catering managers, commissary production, the Prepared Foods Buyer, and the. Key duties include managing catering orders and customer communication, maintaining accurate records and reports, supporting store replenishment and production communication, and helping the markets execute merchandising, signage, food safety, training, demonstrations, and seasonal programs.

Summary of essential job functions

  • Work three (+/-) days per week in the office providing catering, administrative, and operational support and two days per week in the markets providing hands-on support. The schedule may be adjusted by management during holidays, catering peaks, demonstrations, and other business-critical periods.
  • Manage day-to-day activity in CaterTrax, including order review, menu and product maintenance, pricing updates, item availability, and changes directed by the Prepared Foods Buyer or.
  • Review incoming catering and holiday orders for completeness, accuracy, lead time, pickup or delivery details, special requests, and production requirements. Escalate missing or conflicting information before production or fulfillment.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with customers regarding confirmations, modifications, substitutions, scheduling, pickup or delivery details, and special requests. Follow through on open issues to resolution.
  • Coordinate order details with catering managers, commissary production, store teams, and other departments to support accurate and on-time fulfillment.
  • Monitor catering supplies and packaging inventory. Report needs and place approved orders before shortages affect service.
  • Maintain catering sales reports, order records, customer notes, issue logs, spreadsheets, and other operational documentation. Complete assigned updates and follow-ups by the communicated deadline.
  • Process store replenishment requests and communicate inventory needs, product availability, production priorities, seasonal demand, and monthly promotions to commissary staff.
  • Work in assigned markets to support Deli, Bakery, Prepared Foods, Cheese, and Charcuterie operations based on priorities established by the Prepared Foods Buyer (+/- with seasonal holiday swings).
  • Inspect and improve displays. Ensure products are fresh, properly rotated, accurately signed, attractively presented, adequately stocked, and merchandised according to company standards.
  • Support promotional displays, seasonal merchandising, holiday programs, product launches, display resets, and other company initiatives. Work side by side with store teams and be available as a resource to the markets.
  • Cut, wrap, label, rotate, and merchandise artisan cheese and assist with charcuterie assortments and specialty-food displays as needed.
  • Provide hands-on coaching and reinforcement of merchandising, product handling, sanitation, labeling, customer service, and operational standards.
  • Lead or support in-store demonstrations and sampling events, including programs such as the Prosciutto Roadshow. Educate customers and employees about featured products and catering services.
  • Assist catering managers and store teams during holidays, large-order periods, demonstrations, and peak-volume times.
  • Identify store-level opportunities or issues and provide timely follow-up to the Prepared Foods Buyer, including actions taken and items requiring additional support.
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards throughout production, product handling, demonstrations, and merchandising.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and follow through in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer service oriented with the ability to resolve concerns professionally and work collaboratively with customers and employees.
  • Proficient computer skills using Word, Excel, Outlook, and order-management systems. CaterTrax experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Prepared Foods, Catering, Deli, Bakery, Cheese, Charcuterie, merchandising, or foodservice operations is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to travel between Tony’s Market locations, the office, and the commissary. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
