Presales Engineer - Cisco

Role & responsibilities

1. Solution Architecture (Campus & Wireless) • Design end-to-end LAN/WLAN solutions using Cisco Catalyst 9000 switches (Access, Core, Distribution) and Catalyst 9800 Wireless Controllers.

• Architect modern Wi-Fi 6/6E solutions, performing predictive heatmaps and BOM sizing.
• Position and demo Cisco Catalyst Center (formerly DNA Center) for automation and assurance.
• Explain the value of SD-Access over traditional Layer-2/3 designs to customers.

2. Commercial Mastery (BOQ & CCW)

• Own the BOQ: Create error-free Bill of Materials in Cisco Commerce Workspace (CCW).
• Licensing Logic: specific focus on DNA Essentials vs. Advantage, ensuring term alignment (3Y/5Y), and catching "hidden" costs like power cables, mounting kits, and uplink modules.
• RFP Leadership: Read technical tenders, identify compliance gaps, and draft technical responses.
  
• Preferred candidate profile
  Must-Have Technical Skills:
  • Core Networking: Deep understanding of Switching (VLANs, STP, Stacking/VSS), Routing (OSPF, BGP), and QoS. • Wireless Fundamentals: Understanding of RF physics, Roaming, SNR, and interference. Experience with Ekahau or AirMagnet is a plus. • Cisco Portfolio: Catalyst 9200/9300/9500/9600, Catalyst 9100 APs, 9800 WLC. • Security: Basic understanding of ISE (Identity Services Engine) for NAC/dot1x. Professional Competencies: • CCW Expert: You know how to navigate Ciscos quoting tool without assistance. • Strong Fundamentals: You don't just memorize part codes; you understand why a solution works. • Presentation: Ability to whiteboard a network design in front of a CIO.
