Preservationist

You will serve as a Preservationist with Fort Bowie National Historic Site, in Bowie, AZ. The is a Career-Seasonal appointment. Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as permanent appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work for approximately 11.5 months from mid-November - October in pay status, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year (half of the month of November).

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Prepare and paint surfaces, performs plumbing repairs, and performs carpentry and masonry work. Use a computer as a primary tool for sending and receiving messages, accessing Facility Management Software System (FMSS) work orders, seeking vendor information, and performing record keeping. Documents daily accomplishments on Facility Management Software System (FMSS) through the WORK Kiosk. Records work activity; management unit; work location; as well as labor, equipment, and materials used. Provide leadership for individual and group park volunteers on a variety of general labor projects. May serve as a member or officer on a park committee(s).

Must provide proof of U.S. citizenship. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment.. You are required to wear a uniform and comply with uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. You are required to complete training, obtain and maintain a government credit card with travel and purchase authority. You must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. You must be at least 18 years of age or older to operate government vehicles. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
