About the job

For one of the EU Committes, located in Brussels, we are looking for a Press, Information and Media Specialist to join a dynamic communication environment and support high-level media relations activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Press Unit to help promote institutional activities, engage with media stakeholders, and contribute to the planning and implementation of communication initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to operate at the heart of the EU communications landscape and collaborate with journalists, press officers, and institutional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Head of the Press Unit to support daily communication and media activities.
  • Monitor and maintain the calendar of institutional events involving the Press Unit.
  • Attend meetings, events, and other institutional activities, producing articles and communication content.
  • Support the organisation of press conferences, media briefings, press breakfasts, interviews, and journalist meetings.
  • Draft press releases, news articles, media briefings, and other communication materials.
  • Prepare and implement communication plans for specific events and initiatives.
  • Assist in the preparation of Editorial Committee meetings, including agenda management and minute-taking.
  • Support press officers in the production and promotion of multimedia content, including video communications.
  • Contribute to the visibility of institutional activities through media and digital communication channels.
  • Maintain effective relationships with journalists, media representatives, and other stakeholders.

Profile requirements

  • Proven experience in drafting press releases, articles, and media-related content.
  • Experience supporting media relations, press activities, and communication campaigns.
  • Strong event organisation and coordination skills.
  • Active and professional use of social media platforms as communication tools.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multicultural and multilingual team environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and public relations skills.
  • Good understanding of the functioning of the European Union institutions.
  • Good understanding of institutional communication processes and media engagement practices.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Desired Assets

  • Familiarity with the Brussels media landscape and established knowledge of EU correspondents and media networks.
  • Experience working within European Institutions, agencies, or other public-sector organisations.
  • Experience preparing communication plans and media outreach activities.
  • Knowledge of audiovisual and digital communication tools.
  • Experience supporting editorial boards, governance meetings, or communication committees.
  • Interest in European affairs and institutional communications.
  • Experience producing content for websites, social media channels, and multimedia platforms.
