Key responsibilities

Undertake periodical inspections of site works and all other areas under scope of work such as RoW, camp, storage area, laydown, workshop, etc. for environmental compliance and also conduct periodical internal environmental audits to ensure that project activities comply with legislative and contractual requirements.

Develop and implement environment management plans.

Develop necessary forms, templates, checklist to implement project environmental requirements as per approved environmental plans and associated sub plans/procedures.

Conduct training and awareness sessions on relevant environment related procedures and standards.

Participate in investigation of environment related incidents and identify immediate and root causes.

Identify applicable laws and all other interested parties’ requirements and implement the compliance obligations including ministry permit conditions in a timely manner.

Conduct environment audits and inspections.

Participate fully and openly in both internal and external audits/risks and opportunities assessment such as HAZCON, SIMOPs workshops.

Conduct environmental monitoring.

Monitor, verify, and analyse monthly environmental data for its accuracy and correctness in order to meet company environmental targets (specifically GHG emissions). This includes verifying the source data from other interested parties such as subcontractor, vendor etc.

Conduct and communicate company environment awareness campaigns and initiatives including alerts, lessons learned, best practices for disseminating information.

Uphold company values and demonstrate success behaviours.

Essential qualifications and experience

Bachelor degree in environmental engineering or environmental science (from an institution of higher learning authorized to grant academic degrees in the country of issue).

NEBOSH IGC or NEBOSH certificate for environmental management.

ISO 14001 internal or lead auditor.

Spill response training.

Any other HSE certifications.

Minimum 4-6 years of experience in any industry.

At least 3 years of experience in managing and implementing environmental aspects in projects, operations, or production in the oil and gas or petro-chemical industries.

Skills and competencies

Have strong understanding of the environmental issues and practices in the oil and gas operations/EPC business.

Sound understanding of the HSE management system and environmental legislative requirements.

Knowledge in interpretation of lab reports.

Exposure to ambient air quality monitoring/CAAQMS.

Knowledge and skills in establishing and operating waste treatment equipment and waste management techniques.

Training and exposure in translocation of animals and plants.

Hands on experience in soil erosion control measures (desirable).

Effective interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills in English.
