Principal AI Engineer
Summary
Principal AI Engineer builds and architects agent-first AI systems and modern software platforms, leading technical vision and driving production deployments in a fast-paced consultancy.
If you are tired of corporate bureaucracy and architecture roles that amount to little more than slideware and steering committees, this is your playground. You will join a high-growth technology consultancy as the technical anchor, building modern, agent-first AI systems that solve real-world problems and hit production in weeks, not quarters. This is your opportunity to combine deep software engineering rigour with cutting-edge AI architecture, leading from the front with total autonomy and direct access to executive leadership.
What you’ll be doing:
- Architecting and building production-grade platforms powered by agentic AI, intelligent workflow automation, and custom software.
- Serving as the core technical anchor in product trios alongside Product Managers and subject matter experts to shape product roadmaps and technical vision.
- Leading technical discovery, architecture design, and client workshops, translating complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders while balancing trade-offs.
- Championing modern engineering standards, driving high-quality code reviews, and embedding AI-assisted development tools across the full lifecycle.
- Writing production-quality code for critical system components, complex integrations, and high-volume data workflows.
- Partnering directly with the CTO and senior executives to influence technical strategy, team culture, and delivery practices.
Experience required:
- Deep background in core software engineering with a proven career path as a Principal Engineer, Tech Lead, or Software Architect.
- Hands-on experience architecting and shipping modern production systems, with strong expertise in cloud-native, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
- Demonstrated experience or genuine depth in building agentic systems, AI-powered workflows, or integrating LLMs into production software architectures.
- Proven client-facing or multi-stakeholder confidence with experience running workshops, extracting discovery requirements, and managing scope.
- An AI-native mindset with an intrinsic drive to leverage modern AI development tools to move fast and write resilient software.
